Installed some 12volt under cabinet lites. Stripped some 14/2 Romex and opened the packages. That’s the only time we use 14/2, on the low voltage side of the driver. Just can’t bring myself to use 14wire and 15amp circuits. Cut some tape and ended up back doing some more work on Cat6 cameras putting ends on the wire. Separated some foil tape from its backing

Nice productive day.

What color thumb studs did your Insingo start out with? Whoop, still blue, just dirty in that one picture.

Still blue in the valleys of the stud but silver on the peaks.

Cut a water bottle in half to mix some chico, cut the plastic off some rigid threads, trimmed some plastic on an in-use cover and stripped some uf cable.

Cut some jetline and stripped some Romex, reamed some Pvc. Steel_Addiction Steel_Addiction Stripped some UF also. We took over, fixed and finished what we call a “homeowner special”
On a side note. I was working with a buddy and we were doing gas tanks. Went to mix up and fill the seal offs, he missed and got it all in the threads. Somebody’s gonna really have to want to get the plugs out of them

Got some splice kits and put it back together. After fixing that we found there was a problem with voltage. They had lost a neutral back at the panel. Replaced and added a new wire for that. Opened a couple packages as well. Cut some phasing tape and after letting the silicone dry wrapped the splices in tape

Always love seeing Damascus being used

As do I. Theres more to come for sure.

Do you always silicone your battleship splicers? I did for awhile but worked with a lineman for a few weeks and they just drop them in the hole and bury them. Now im nervous. I have over 50 siliconed that are 4 years old and maybe 30 that arnt.

Yea most of the time I do. I’ve even gone as far as wrapping them in rubber tape then wrapping them in regular vinyl tape. I just get nervous about anything underground spliced, especially aluminum, and overkill it. Some brands will come with little silicone packages with them.

But also most of my younger years were spent with an old timer who silicones everything. They’d call him the silicone kid. I will say tho most of anything he did outside will stay dry.

On a similar note, the guy I learned the trade from hated using electrical tape for anything besides wire pulls, labeling, and phasing. For the most part I've carried that on with very few exceptions. Then again, like him I give my work such OCD attention that's it's really not necessary.

My younger years were spent patching with h-taps, aquaseal and 30 rolls of tape.
I have since dug up some of those splices 10 years later to find them spolied into white powder.....i hope my battleships hold up better.
