I was wondering how everyone stores or holds there knife care, cleaning supplies in.
Photos would be great.
Also
how have you been storing you collection on traditional slip joints?

thanks for the info

When it comes to "kit," I'm pretty pleased with what I've come up with. I wanted a small metal box (more in line with the retro sensibilities of these pocket knives), but “plastic” seems the order of the day, especially in the size I was looking for.

Portable cleaning, maintenance, sharpening, and carrying 'long:

I figured Sarah's tackle box would show up on this thread. :).

My kit is more like a random assemblage of cleaning, polishing, sharpening equipment and assorted oils and protectants that do double duty as gun cleaning supplies. Mostly stored on a couple of shelves on my office and a desk drawer.

Helps that I already had pictures. :D

Welp, I have that, too (minus the double-duty), including 6" and 8" sharpening stones and a Washboard doohicky HeavyHanded produces that's helping me learn and keep a steadier angle when freehand sharpening.

But, the man asked for "kit," and there you have it. :-)

the drivers door pocket of my work vehicle, the console of my work vehicle, a big green enameled bowl in a closet and sitting around on various tables and dressers. also in the kitchen cabinets.

I picked up an old blacksmiths (horseshoe's specifically) tool box at a flea market or auction somewhere along the way, thin metal outer covering, wood interior, small shelf that slides back and forth across the top. I keep most of my slipjoints that don't get pulled out regularly in that along with little extras and cleaning supplies, sharpener, wipe cloth etc on the shelf, I've also taken to putting the little packages you get the new packages that are meant to keep moisture out the air inside it :) I keep my EDC knives in an old cigar box in the bedroom. I'm constantly switching things around though and re-organizing, (I have a knife box I use for fixed blades that aren't in the edc box to.

A small needle oiler for the joints... A "Fine" Arkansas stone for sharpening, bottle of mineral oil for the stone as well as to treat the blades and scales with periodically. These are kept on a shelf in the kitchen cabinet.

My kit is in old nylon ditty homemade about 35 years. There is also a small DMT duo stone I added about five years ago

I store my knives in cigar boxes under an end table by the couch.

I have a large plastic box. Oil, WD40, and suchlike goes under the sink, Sharpening stuff goes in the top section of one of my knife storage boxes (might take a pic of that later).

A large lok & lok plastic box, contains all I need for knife care including a couple of band aid's:)

I have a man bag (sort of messenger bag) that I didn't use, so about one year ago I decided to use it as a storage for sharpening stones and such.

You guys are very organized. My stuff (oil can, sharpening stones, oily rags, etc.) is strewn all over my work bench in the garage, along with all of my other essential man-stuff. :D

Please post pics of this box. I love old toolboxes!
Thanks,

I use an old Sears under seat tool box for pick up trucks, it holds everything I need as you can see.

Nowhere special. WD-40 out of reach of the kid, in the laundry room cabinet. Mineral oil in the kitchen, where it is used on more than just my knives. A pair of medium stones (Norton and Smith), and a Gerber field sharpener in my indoor tool bag. Honing steel in the kitchen. Belt around my waist, or in a drawer. I have a Sharpmaker under the bed.

I have a black metal toolbox that I keep all of my traditional knives in, and the oil, sharpener, tools and other gear care stuff is in the top compartment. Knives go in the drawers.

I have a Sharpmaker with additional diamond and extra fine rods, two different grades of stropping compound, a small homemade strop, a needle Nanolube oiler, a Tuff Cloth and extra Tuff Oil, a toothbrush, grades of sandpaper from 80 to 3000 grit, Flitz polish and some polishing cloths.

It all fits nice and snug in a cigar box.
