Hey all,
Just wondering what you guys use. I use Devcon and clean up with Acetone. That stuff wreaks and can knock ya out but it cleans up pretty good. Just wondering if there's some other solvent that you use that does a better and faster job ? Thanks.....RDT

I'm a brake cleaner fan.

I use it for gun cleaning, degreasing bullet molds, cleaning steel before heat treat, removing buffing compound, dissolving epoxy - instantly, .....

I keep a can in the garage. A friend was taking care of the place and used a $3 can on ants in my barn - I wasn't real happy, but it works on that too.

What I don't know is if it is more dangerous than acetone. But that aerosol can is real handy. Sprit-wipe and epoxy is gone, no residue.

Vinegar will cut it like gasoline cuts oil. Great stuff for cleaning epoxy off hands and other things. Be warned though, vinegar will corrode your steel quickly and if it gets into areas of epoxy you do not want cleaned it will destroy that epoxy so that it will not bond.

I make a quick wipe with a paper towel, then wait until it starts to set up. Then a few q-tips with acetone will remove the rest. Too much acetone will remove the epoxy under the handle, so a little goes a long way.

Get some alcohol swabs at the drugstore. They come packaged and will clean it right up with no ill effects to the blade or handle.Dave:)

WD40. It is mostly kerosene. I bet plain kerosene would work. I think Lamp oil is kerosene.

I'm with Bruce, WD40. It works realy good, just spray some on your cloth or handle and wipe the epoxy off before it has had a chance to set up.

WOW ! thanks guys, lotsa cool ideas here. I have some scales to do this week and will try each of the ideas. My usual Acetone can be kinda rough on the epoxy at the edge of the scales. Take care.....RDT

I use rubbing alcohol but just like acetone you have to be careful because it will undermine the epoxy at the edges of the scales.
