There is an option at Busse Combat for a feature called Double Cut.What is this? Im sure all of you know, but I am still new to this so excuse my ignorance if you will.Thank you.

Similar to a bead blast. Steel is smoothed (1st cut) and then blasted (2nd cut).

It looks like this:

It'll smooth a bit over time, but it holds up nicely to abuse. Double cut and satin are where it's at.

AHH..that explains the $80 charge. Does look very cool.It wears off you say? Most of my knives are bead blast but dont really seem to rub off.Scratch a little but thats it.Is it more durable for a user than a powder coat in your opinion? The ASH I am pre-ordering may be that.Thanx for the info.

Hi Shigawire,

The doublecut doesn't "wear off", it sort of smooths out with use. It is a fancy term for fancy bead blasting. It'll scratch up, but it still looks nice (looks nicer the more you use it, actually) and it is much more durable than any of the coatings. The coatings will wear and/or flake off with use. Doublecut is a great choice, especially when satin is not an option.

No, it's not a coating, so it doesn't wear off. It's a finish (like satin) that will smooth a little with extended beating, but it still holds up well. Cleans up easily, and there's no coating wear to think about.

It doesn't wear off as there is no coating to wear down. It does come with a slightly rough finish, meaning that it is not smooth like a satin finish. After chopping with it a while the minute high spots of the DC finish will smooth as Guyon said. You do need to maintain it a little more than a coated blade. INFI is rust resistant, but not stainless (not many steels are truly rust proof except maybe H1). Just don't store it wet and wipe it down with some lube after use. Hard to beat.

My pontificating always causes me to be late on the posts. Gotta learn to be more concise.

I'm such a loud mouth!

Thanx guys that answers it for me. Might just stick with the coated one,not all that concerned with the wear thing, and I live in a rather humid climate so any protection I can gain would help. I want my knives as users( with a few exceptions). Might be easier to oil just the edge while Im out than having to worry about the whole knife, though I havent had any rust problems with my GW so far(which is coated) and Ive never oiled it when out in the everglades.Might want to start though. Double cut sure looks cool though.

This is a close-up of my Frosted Jack. The shiny is satin finish and the matte is the DCBB.

This is my main user, which is DCBB:

You can see how it gets shinier where it is worn up by the swedge and just under the custom logo. Hardly an issue, but noticeable.

Hardly an issue? Hardly an issue???

Why that's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Send it to me so I can even out the shiny parts.
