What does EDC mean?

Sorry but I am a newbie. What does EDC mean? Could someone please enlighten me. Please don't flame :)
 
EDC means "Every Day Carry" - Basically it describes the gear (usually the knife) that a person will generally carry on a regular day.

I tried doing a search because I figured the same but it didn't work for some reason :confused:

I even tried ask.com but that just came up with a bunch of other odd acronyms.

I guess my EDC would be a CRKT K.I.S.S, the big one in sliver with a tanto blade. I like how slim it is in my pocket.

Ohhhhh don't I know it... I only joined the other day, and I'm already drooling over a lot of new ones that I really can't afford... and reaching for my debit card...
 
What's scary is when you try to estimate the value of your collection after a few years... and think to yourself "That's a lot of zeros...". :eek:

No, what would be really scary is for me to get out of college in three years and realize I spent nearly as much on knives as I did on tuition...

However...

It soon evolved into....... Every Day Choose

But it will finally lead to.... Entering Diminished Capacity

Start a new thread in W&C -- I suggest making it on acronyms in general and not just this one.

If we let the hounds drag threads off to W&C we'd have nothing left in the rest of the forums....
 
I was fixin to ask the same question. I have carried an EDC since third grade, just never heard the terminology. Danbo, NICE avatar ya got there!
 
Uses:

"My EDC" used to refer to the collection of items carried every day is correct

"My EDC ____" (item type-- knife, light, etc) is only correct if you actually carry it every day or reasonably close to every day. For example, my EDC light is a Streamlight Microstream. It is with me EVERY day. I do not have an "EDC knife" because my knife choice rotates a bit. I carry a knife every day, but it is not always the same knife.

My knife is "my carry", "today's carry", etc.
