What is a good fixed blade karambit (blade must be 4" or under) for $50 and under? I don't know a lot about knives, and figured this would be the best place to come before I spend $50 on a knife that falls apart the next day.

Try the K-Bar. http://www.kabar.com/knives/detail/48 Its listed at 65$, but I got mine for way less on amazon. It's one of my EDC knives I carry at the small of my back. Don't know what you'll be using it for, but for a self defense carry knife, it works for me.

What about one that has one of those rings on the bottom? I like the way it feels in my hand I also like that it isn't going to slip out of my hand with the ring. Like that, and yes I know it is a cheap knife, and probably low quality, I was just using it as an example. And it will be used for self defense and utility.

Welcome. Save a few more bucks and get a Cold Steel.

Is Cold Steel a Brand?

No, silly, it's a steel type. Cold Steel is basically a great knife steel with an almost motionless molecular makeup....the faster an object's molecules speed around, the hotter said object is. The idea is that cold steel is able to achieve much keener edges & keep them for an extremely long period of time....though you do have to be careful with wet hands, etc., as they will stick to the blade steel. Best of luck man!

Cold Steel Double Agent I will set you back about 30 bucks. Their Steel Tiger about 80.

Good knives.

Karambits seem to fall into about 2 schools of thought.... 7.99 gas station knives which are dangerous to yourself more so than anyone else.... and very high end knives designed for people who know how to use one.

Sadly, there really is not much of a middle ground and anything worth owning really is going to set you back about a hundred bucks entry model...

for 50.00 looking for a Karambit, I'd suggest..... saving up a bit more cash, which sadly, is exactly what I'm doing....not gonna drop 2 or 3 hundred on one this week or anything, but I know enough to stay away from anything much less than that.....

Market for Karambits are just weird.... /sad panda

In all seriousness OP, I don't know how much you care about performance, etc....but even a company like M-Tech may be a route for you....I think you can grab a 'cool' looking karambit for $20 or less....

Google Schrade SCH111.

Not my preference for a Karambit, but just based on the specs it doesn't seem too bad for the price.

Great that you decided on a fixed blade!
Having said that,
Minimalist and cheap has its advantages for all it's primary intend and purpose...

the tops scorpions tail is great for a little more. karambits really don't need more than a 3" blade.

I have some mtech karambits, as much as I dislike the brand, their kbits are really solid and well made. heck even the bevel grinds look symmetrical, one even came hair popping sharp.

the cold steel tiger is nice, but its too big to conceal carry comfortably.

edit: when it comes to karambits and blade length, less is more in my opinion.

I was about to suggest MTech. Not fancy but should be solid enough.
