Yes, I know what it is, sort of. I was just wondering if someone could explain exactly what it is. Is dymondwood actual wood, pieces of actual wood with resin, or completely synthetic? Also, what is a laminate? Is Dymondwood a laminate?
Thanks!

I don't know about "actual" walnut, but I suspect it is purely a man made material that looks like walnut. I have a Blackjack knife with the handles being made from the stuff and it seems to be okay. I would suggest you don't leave the knife lie outside in the rain for days however and expect the handle to be unaffected.

I actually have left a 110 out in the woods for 7 months, and the scales were only slightly affected.

Well, I'm talking about the custom shop for Buck knives. They said that the walnut scales are dymondwood, so they aren't walnut?

This is all I could find using the search. I don't think they are walnut, from what I've learned it's layered wood with a resin of some sort. I could be wrong. All of the dymondwoods that Buck uses refers to the color of the stain.

Regardless of what it is, all the handle materials from the buck shop are great. If your on the edge, just take the plunge, it's well worth it. The custom shop 110's are amazing. If this is purely academic, i'm sorry I couldn't help more.

I saw your other post (here) where Buck said that all of the "wood" was Dymondwood. If that is true, then its the same wood/plastic composite referenced above. I don't own a CS Buck with wood scales, but I was under the impression that it was "real" wood.

Interesting website. I have limited exposure to Dymondwood. I notice the handle in one area has slightly raised grain which I thought was probably a moisture reaction. Could be wrong. I bought the knife "used".

I like a description I heard for water calling it the universal solvent.
