What is the basic building block of Kershaw's folding knives? Spyderco has the Delica, Benchmade has the Griptilian, Buck has the 110 (or for some of the modern folks, the Vantage series), etc.

What knife is basically that first knife that a new Kershaw owner buy if they have no idea of anything about Kershaw or what their history is? Something that's been around for a while, but has gone through some changes over the years to keep it current.

Is it the Leek or the Skyline? Those are the two that come to mind for me. A bigger model?

I think the Blur would be a good one. I know it was one of the first I owned, and definitely one of my favorites.

I would say the Leek! It was my first Kershaw and I've owned several of them. My second choice for a flagship would be the Skyline it's a knife where pricepoint and quality come together to make a great knife for the masses.

My guess would be the Leek as well, but I'm sure Thomas could tell you what their best seller is. I see Leeks all over and carry mine quite a bit.

That's a good point - I wonder what the best seller for Kershaw is.

I would agree with the leek hands down. It was my first kershaw and the knife that introduced me to quality knives outside of the traditional lockback (Buck 110) type.

When I hear "flagship" I think their finest, which to me is the Tilt right now (or of the recent past). When I think of foundation knives and icons, the Leek does come to mind although I hear the Skyline might be one of Kershaw's most popular models today. I have no data to back any of that up of course

I would have to say the blur, it was my first kershaw and is a solid knife. I would be interested in knowing (if Thomas will tell us) what sells the best or ranks some of the ones we've been talking about (Blur, Leek, Skyline)

I would have to go with the blur or the leek. I see the blur more often then the leek with non-knife people, but the leek is right behind it

I started with the Scallion - next was the Blur. I like my Tilt... but I'm weird. I think the pinnacle of their production was the JYDII in Ti & SG2 - super smooth and sharp - great flipper, too.

Stainz

I'll say Leek. It was my first Kershaw, my best friend's first Kershaw and knife, and as someone posted above, in my experience, it's also one of the most commonly-seen models on non-knife folks.

While it's not really their "flagship", per se. I'd say it's the model I find most synonymous with the brand.

I vote for the Leek, and it was my first Kershaw as a serious collector, but I'm thinking that the Blur actually fits my needs a little better.

Yeah, its prob the Leek. It was/is (getting more Kershaws soon. :D) my first Kershaw. IMO, its Kershaw's most common knife but their "Flagship" knife would be the Skyline. But thats just my opinion. :)
