I don't even call this a cheap knife.. I'd say it's an inexpensive knife:

I edc an opinel #6 in my pocket, with a modern folder clipped, but the opinel sees plenty of use, like you, I'd call it inexpensive, not cheap

My newest in the edc rotation is an old Boker USA Stockman I found for 6 bucks. Old carbon steel slip joints are awesome. Quality blade steel and often under 15 dollars.

I have a $3.87 folder that lands in the pocket once in a while.
It pretends to be a more expensive knife, and does it well.

And there's a 22 page thread on this forum about it.

EDC...? I wouldn't mind carrying an Opinel or a Victorinox SOME days... but Every Day Carry? Give me an Ontario Rat 1!

That I wouldn't be "afraid" to carry?

I guess I'm not afraid of carrying inexpensive knives. I have an Opinel #6 and a svord peasant min in my bag every day. And I could easily carry something as nice as a RAT 2. In fact, the RAT 2 is not much cheaper than my current EDC, so maybe I'm just happy on the inexpensive side of things?

Cheapest I've edc'd would probably be a Kersaw that I got for $12 bucks.
Gave it to a friend, but it was still good while I had it.

$4.00 from a local antique market; it had a lot less patina when I bought it... ;)

It gets carried all the time but not everyday LOL.

This Opi #8 is another great candidate for me; cheap and awesome especially after the mods I did.

The absolute cheapest I would not be afraid to EDC:

Folder: Kilimanjaro Vertice
Fixed: Mora Companion
Traditional: Rough Rider
Machete: Tramontina
Multitool: Weatherman Wingman

Could have all 5 for under around $75-80 and cover all your bases with basic reliable simplicity.

Can't beat the Cold Steel Kudu for this if you ask me. I got mine for six bucks and it rocks!
