I plan to sign up for a magazine with good articles on the latest stuff, knifemaking, multitools, reviews and good pictures.
I found "Blademag- knifeworld- Blade" but haven't seen anyone of them in person.
What should it be guys?

My two favorites are Knife World and Blade.

Knife World may not cover what you are interested in. It has lots of info on older collectable knives, but does have quite a few good articles on knifemaking, knifemakers, and current knives. It is in a newspaper style, so the photos aren't as crisp as in the glossy magazines, but the paper has improved recently.

Blade covers everything pretty well, and has great photos.

I like Tactical Knives but I am getting bored with tactical knives. Fortunately the magazine
has lots of different types of knives recently they have stuff like scandis and Woodlore knives.

Yeah, that's the great thing about gun and knife mags. They take a plethora of ads and then can't think of a nasty thing to say about any of the guns or knives they review. Lynn Thompson complains that Blade never reviews any of the Cold Steel offerings and, if true, it's boycotting an entire line of knives because they don't like the chief exec. Very petty.

They also have two-page spreads showing a particular gun or knife, they the author spends paragraphs telling you what they look like! Oh, maybe it's because some people are blind...but then, they wouldn't be reading those mags either!

You'll see a good gun or knife mag when you open it and it reads, "This gun/knife is one of the worst pieces of garbage we've ever had the misfortune to review!" Until then, it's the eye candy. (Most of the articles, by themselves, are painfully boring.)

Knife and Life and Prorez are the two best. They print on high-quality paper and emphasize excellence in big, color pictures.

Knives illustrated is going to cream Blade one day soon.
As it stands Tactical Knives still has the best content value.

I used to subscribe to Blade. Good mag but seemed it was aimed more towards handmade customs. They have a few production articles but not enough for my tastes. As for all of the magazines, it's been a very long time since I've seen a knife review of a production knife that had a real world review. All of the knives were perfect and everyone should consider buying one. Of course when you are reviewing a knife from one of your paid advertisers, you aren't going to write anything negative about their products. I quit all of my subscriptions and pretty much read postings here and over on the Spyderco forums. You can pretty much find out anything you want right here. Even pics if you ask, someone on this forum usually has a pic available. The reviews here I feel are more reliable for real world users not paid knife reviewers.

Oh, yeah, it's also worth paying the annual membership fee for what you get here on this site. (Hey do I get paid for that plug?)

I subscribe to Blade, Tactical Knives and Knifeworld and Knifeworld is the best. I find much of the articles in Blade to be on custom knives and little on production knives as someone else has stated. I do not subscribe to Knives Illustated but I may because it has improved with Bruce voyles as editor. Also, the knife fighting part of Tactical knives coverage I do not care for. Here in Texas knifefighting is looked down on by courts and law enforcement. And I find much of Blade and Tactical knives boring. I feel that this forums and a few others quite informitive.

The only one I still subscribe to is Knife World.

I let my years long Blade subscription run out about a year ago. It's a good magazine, but you'll never read a bad review, so it's very hard to actually get a feel for a knife, company or maker. These forums are far better for information on new knives.

Knife World is a quality magazine with great writing.

Tactical Knives never really interested me. The writing isn't as good as it could be and some of the reviews and tests they do are a bit over the top.

Knives Illustrated is ok, but I haven't read it in a few years so maybe it's changed for the better.
