the loop or ring (that I have seen on some fixed blades) attached to the handle of the knife right below the blade? If holding the knife in the palm of your hand (blade pointing upright) the user would be able to insert their index finger into the loop, allowing them to twirl the weapon in the palm of their hand. Is this an after maket attachement or are there knives that come equipped with this feature? I ask because I saw a knife similar to this in the movie Tombstone (Starring Kurt Russel & Val Kilmer) being used by one of the bad guys wearing the red sash around his waist. Anyone with any clues please advise...thanks!

Karambits and bird and trout knives have them, I'm sure people can elaborate on just what that hole is...

I don't think that he's talking about a karambit style ring - he's describing something that your index finger would go into, with the knife in your standard hammer or saber grip. Like the Terminator 2 knife.

I think he is talking about a ring that your index finger goes through, like a Busse BARF. It is like a sub-hilt, but completely enclosed.

I think a ring like that would make for a very seccure grip, and make it hard to looke the knife in a fight.

I think you are on to something. Exactly! Do you have a manufacturer
or a link that gives me a description of what that mechanism or type of
weapon is? The Karambit, which is impressive, is close, but it's more like the knife that Mr. Saber described.

Anyone else have any ideas or recommendations?

-Thanks
