Velutexª is a textured coating originally developed for the aerospace industry to be used on aircraft surfaces requiring a non-skid surface. For example hand-holds on helicopters, skids, flooring, and many uses outside of the aviation market as well.
As a result of this it has excellent adhesion to aluminum, it was a natural choice for use on our aluminum handled knives.
Like any coating, even anodizing, it is NOT imune to scratching, however it does have a good level of scratch resistance.
