Not a brand or knives but the ONE knife you personally feel is the best. Can be a folder or fixed dont matter.

This is incredibly subjective and honestly if other people are anything like me their "favorite" or "Best" knife preference changes every few months. Currently my knife I feel is best suited to handle my own personal needs is the Mick Strider Custom Jibble

people are different and most like many knives that they can't choose between.

I'm going to say the best folder on the market is the Victorinox classic, as it's probably the most widely carried and copied folding knife. It also happen to be very useful and be an extremely great value.
The best fixed blade is the marbles 18" blade machete as it's such a great value with the quality being way beyond its 15$ price.
I don't care if something is the highest quality available, if it has very good quality and is inexpensive enough to reach the masses that makes it better .

It doesn't exist, even from my personal perspective. If it did I probably wouldn't have Pelican cases full of knives. My favorite knife is like my favorite gun: it's the one in my hand at the time. That's why I typically have at least four knives in me. It's not because I think I need four, I just can't decide on one to carry. I can tell you what I carry most often:
  • Vitorinox Alox Mini Champ, always in right pants pocket
  • ALM custom SAK, always in a belt sheath
  • ZT 0900, always in my EDC bag or a jacket/pants pocket
  • ZT 0450 / Benchmade 940, switch for clipped to right pants pocket

Other than those I rotate through dozens in my EDC bag based on what lights my fire than morning: Benchmades, Chris Reeve, Spyderco, Brous, etc. The ones that see the most use are the ALM custom SAK and ZT 0450 / Benchmade 940.

Honestly, all of those could be replaced by the first Buck 110 I got 20 years ago and I'd never miss a beat, but what fun is that?

I would have to agree I haven't found the best the ONE. Each knife I have has its own uniqueness that makes it feel like no other. That thing that makes it the one, that singular aspect of that particular knife that is the best. My EDC rotates constantly. The one in my FRP is the chosen one for the day and I to will carry four or more which includes my bag and when its colder that's more layers which = more pockets, I think you can see where I'm going here! Financially I'm more of a budget collector I love my Kershaws but I have gotten a couple mid/high priced knives
(high for me). And they're almost always with me and they are my Spyderco Manix2 mod'd and my ZT0566 mod'd:

Then there's my Kershaw Launch 1 and Damascus Link:

then I have all the others that I enjoy for what they are and the tasks they can handle. But if you happen to find YOUR ONE!!!!! The Best knife for you please share it with us because even if ONE of us finds their ONE that means there's hope for the rest of us also!

SAK Huntsman
The corkscrew and bottle opener gets you invited to the best parties. The blades and saw blade make it the best survival tool too. The scissors best girlie nail survival tool. Add it all up for the package size its the best.

At this particular moment, the "one" has been a Case large stockman Rancher with CV. It's got the amber sawcut scales, which are pretty dang nice. I've had it for a while and only carried it now and then, but recently it's been with me everyday. One day it just hit me that I really love that thing. I carry other knives along with it, but that's been my staple and I use it more than anything else now.

OP, I like the question and I hope it doesn't get derailed with "personal preference" and all that crap....

I have to mirror the sentiments of most on this thread in that I love knives so " the best" does and will change but as of right now it's my Chris Reeve small Inkosi. Perfect EDC size and shape, high quality build, rugged yet classy.

THE best or the ONE. Op's question was if any of us have found THE knife I believe. Have you read any of our previous responses?

I have. None of them cut nearly as well as other knives I can name. All are terrible choppers. I repeat, best at what?

Maybe if you can tell us what you think is the best knife available on the market today, we would have some idea of what you are getting at.

I'm with IM...I'm not quite following. It's kind of an ill-posed question to ask people who are very into knives. Its like asking "What's the best steel?"

Best value? Best at doing some task? Best made?

I took it to mean the best for you.

best chopper? Best slicer? Best value? Best looking? Best lock? Best opening? Best zombie/bushcraft/suvival/combat knife? Best available now? Best availble ever?

I dunno. How about "a Loveless drop point hunter".

There is literally one of these threads every day.

honestly these ****** should just say post your favorite and end it at that.

Generally, the one I'm carrying at the moment, which lately happens to be my Buck Custom Shop 112 Ranger. Others in the rotation, Sebbie 21, Dozier K1 (FB), CS American Lawman or Recon 1, BassPro 110, SAK, MiniRukus, F1...

Same as usual.

Best folder: Spydie Gayle Bradley 1 folder.
Favorite folder: BM 940-1

Best fixed: RAT(ESEE) 6
Favorite fixed: Spydie Sprig
