Just wanted a listing of what people though of as their best knife. And if you could then list WHY it is the best. Remember I want your personal opinion of why it is the best- any reason that you choose. As for myself I have to say two of them- Boye Dendritic Lockback as no other knife works as well for me at work- the marlinspike makes it indespensible. The other is my Nepalese Kukris with white bone handle. Both of these are true workers and that is what I look for in a knife.

My best folder is probably my Paramilitary, it's no the most expensive one, but it is the one that fits my needs better than any other.

Out of my nonlocking folders, nothing can beat alox SAKs, bombproof workers!

My best fixed blade is a custom convexed edge drop point made by a local knife maker following my drawings, my BRK&T Mountaineer is a close second, though.

Out of the multitools I have, I'd say that my Swisstool and Spirit are the best.

thats, like asking me about my favorite child and impossible to answer as they're all special in their own way.
that said I carry two knives everday a PE calypso jr and a small Sebenza.:)

My best knife, period, is my Busse Magnum EU17. Desert tan coating, tan handles, 9.5" blade, and nicely ballenced, and very sharp.

Victorinox Compact but I'm starting to gain more and more appreciation for the Victorinox Spartan.

Victorinox soldier.

Like Fransiscomv said, its bombproof, versitile, compact, low profile, and can be replaced with no trouble.

Not to mention the best warrentee in the trade aside from Buck.

My "best" knife is my Case CV trapper.
Its thin blades take and hold a superb edge, making it a really good slicer. It feels nice in my hand, and rides well in my pocket. It's seen me through many camping trips and outdoor excursions, while still being perfectly suited for office duty. I like having two blades, too, so that I can keep one razor sharp (spey blade, for food, skinning, and other delicate work), and put a utility edge on the other (clip blade, for cutting rope & cardboard, whittling, opening the mail, making a fuzz stick to build my campfire, carving my initials into a picnic table, etc.). On top of all that, it's the perfect size for me. I find that my other slipjoints, like stockmen and canoes, are a little to small for my hands, and the blades are a little shorter than I'd like. Even a stockman that is the same closed length (4.25") has a master blade that's a tad small for my liking. I even prefer it over my state-of-the-art tacticals (although my 710 or CQC-10 are never far behind), because of its aesthetic value and sheer usefulness. Sometimes I don't want to use a big, black tactical knife, especially in front of non-knuts. And, sometimes a 4" blade that's .125" thick is a little more than I need -- I'll use a fixed blade for many of those larger tasks.

Peace.
Alex.

Tough question. I'll say my best knife is my Polkowski Body Guard. I hold it in such high regard because it is an elegant design, size efficient, and it is made of quality steel. The Body Guard also came with three sheaths and therefore, I have many carry options.

I asked Al Polkowski to finish my knife with a satin finish rather than the standard bead blasted finish and it is very easy to look at.

Gosh, my best custom knife would probably be my Elishewitz Python with button lock in stainless steel with carbon fiber inlay. Incredible workmanship and the blade is incredibly sharp and durable.

My best production knife is probably my Spyderco Kiwi. A great business EDC that looks more expensive than it is.

Seeing as how I am a knife whore I have a knife for every occasion.

My all around favorite is my Polkowski Companion, with custom sheath for inside the waistband carry.

Work knife is my Emerson CQC 7, with out the wave feature and without the black blade. The black blade shows every scratch and gouge.

I work for Homeland Security so I travel a lot. I other cities where I jog I carry a Cold Steel Scimitar. I like it because if I am running and run into a drunk or butt head I can pull it and defend myself by striking them with the ball end of it. By the way I used a strop on it and that thing gets scary sharp!

Quality- Chris Reeve Large Classic Sebenza.
Worker- Spyderco Manix
Dress- Mcusta Kasumi

My small sebenza trapeze follows me everywhere. I'm waiting for a large sebenza bloodwood inlay which will be my next EDC. I think my next Wilkins ghost dog pup will be the best knife I have in my EDC rotation. :)

For me, it would probably be my BM 905 Mini Stryker. It's not exotic, but it works very well for me. Size and weight make it nearly ideal for EDC, IMO.
