Among my favorites . . .

Xmas Classics:

A Christmas Carol (1938)
The Shop Around the Corner (1940)
It's a Wonderful Life! (1946)
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Wonderful Life is #1 on every "Best Xmas Movie" list that I've ever seen. It would probably be #3 on my list because, while it is a feel good movie about why life is worth living, it is not actually about Xmas itself.

If forced to choose, I'd pick "Miracle on 34th St." as #1 on my list because the movie is about a child's belief in Santa Claus. How can you beat Ed Gween who plays "Santa Claus" (in civilian clothing) and Natalie Wood, as the child who believes that Gween really is "Santa Claus"?

Most lists ignore the American 1938 version of "A Christmas Carol" in favor of the English 1951 version but I like the 1938 version better because I liked the cast/direction of that movie better w/Reginald Owen as Scrooge and Joseph Mankiewicz was the director. The 1938 version would be #2 on my Best Xmas Movies list, because it too is a movie actually about Xmas -- the meaning of Xmas spirit.

You've Got Mail (1998) is a remake of Shop Around the Corner (SATC) and, while it can also be considered an Xmas movie, it isn't set just in winter like SATC) is. SATC would be #4 on my list and Mail wouldn't even make the list because I consider it a modern Rom/Com and not an Xmas movie.

Xmas Musicals:

Holiday Inn (1942) - the original
White Christmas (1954) - the remake

Nothing beats Bing Crosby singing "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" in these 2 movies. I like the original better. Holiday Inn would be #4 on my list,
of Best Xmas Movies list. SATC would be #5.

Next best - Judy Garland singing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" in:

Meet Me In St Louis (1946)

Laurel & Hardy Xmas Classic:

March of the Wooden Soldiers -- aka Babes in Toyland (1934)

Xmas Cartoon Classics:

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
A Charlie Brown Xmas (1965)
Frosty the Snowman (1969)

Have you ever watched this other classic called ~ The Bishops Wife ~ the Christmas Tree salesman is one of my favorite scene's ~

Yes but it's not among my "favorites." Similar to "Wonderful Life" in terms of the angels-- Dudley and Clarance and the general theme. Ends on Xmas eve but it's not really about Xmas per se. It's a movie about having faith in the people you love and in the people who love you.
