What is your favorite SOG fixed blade knife?

SOG has been around for a long time, and I've owned many of their knives over the years. I'm the first to admit that the vast majority of their folding knives are junk, but their fixed blade knives are truly great. I've got a number of them now. My favorite are my SOG Seal FX knives. In fact, I like this line so much, I now have the 2 fixed blade models (tanto and clip point serrated), and I got the folder. Anybody else like the SOG fixed blades?

Tiger shark is a great fixed blade. Had a few over the years. Also loved the demo so well made wish I still had that one. Did a custom handle on a seal 2000 that really made that knife the best it could be.

Do they still make the tiger shark?

I used to have the old SOG Seal and Seal Elite, they were long knives, but they served me well. They've been discontinued, I believe.

I thought the Trident was a folder. Bark River only does fixed blades that I know of.
The original Trident is the S2 which is a fixed blade similar to the S1 SOG Bowie but stainless blade and micarta handle. The folder with the name Trident came along much later. I will put up some pictures later.

I still have an old SOG Seal that has been on many hikes in different states and adventures including stabbing some feral hogs. Really nice all around knife.

Yeah, I really liked mine. I was disappointed that they discontinued that model. I had to sell it, and now I really miss it.

I also had the SOG Force, which was a really good knife too. The only problem was that SOG used velcro instead of a snap on the sheath. The grip on it was a bit rough, but that was a really robust knife. I enjoyed using it, but I lost it in the river during an all-night catfishing trip.

I had a few different SOG models way back, but the Seal was always a favorite simply because of the design. It handles like a smaller knife. Super comfortable grip, very stabby blade that is well suited to many chores. Even the sheath is pretty great. I have quite a few great outdoors knives, but the Seal will stay with me to pass on

I own the Sog Seal FX in both tanto and clip point, the Sog Seal XR folder, a Kiku XR folder and a couple of the Pillars so you can say I’m a fan. My only complaint was of the Seal FX sheaths, they were pure trash. Got custom kydex jobs for both FX models and that fixed everything. The Pillar is my favorite all around since everything is perfect on that knife including the sheath.

I’ve been extremely happy with every single Sog knife I’ve purchased but they are the upper tier, USA models in s35v steel. Don’t think I would buy some of the lower end stuff.

I have to admit that you are right about the SOG FX sheaths, and I agree with everything you said. I can't speak to the Pillar because I don't have one, but it sure is a beauty, and it's on my short list!

Btw, where did you get your custom kydex sheaths from for FX models? I'd like to upgrade too. Thanks!

I get all my custom sheaths from RKCustomKydex. Eric does outstanding work. You may have to send in your knife but it’s worth it

He’s also on Etsy

Best way I’ve found to communicate with him is to send him a message on Etsy. Very good guy to communicate with
