What jewelry do you have with you on hikes/camping.

One thing I recently realized is we rarely touch on accessories here. Most conversations have some form of improvisation aspect touched upon but jewelry is not mentioned much. I was thinking about how many people are worried about neck knives choking them, yet many people wear necklaces daily and we don't hear too often of necklace fatalities (I tend to think that this is not something I would worry about after 15 years carrying neck knives. So what do you wear? And if you want how would you improvise something out of what you carry?

I usually have my wedding ring on a thick plastic rope/ wood beaded necklace as I am 2 weeks away from graduating Massage therapy so I cannot have rings or other jewelry. Other than that it is my Timex.

The watch could be tightened for a makeshift tournoquet, my ring can be suspended above a bird trap or pitfall to entice animals (oooohhhh shiny), could be beaten into a makeshift nail I guess (but I'm sure Delbert Ealy would love this). Other than that I am stumped as to how I would adapt things.

How about you?

Interesting topic ... I usually wear a gold chain so I guess the clasp could be used as a makeshift lure for fishing.

Also could be used to entice fish close enough to spear or net.

I don't wear jewelry of any kind, including a watch.

Ditto. The world is full of clocks why strap one to your wrist. When you're in the woods and not around clocks, all the better.:D

I don't wear any jewelry, not even a watch. Well, not anymore, since I got rid of all the body piercings

i am not much for jewelery these days.. so i pretty much only wear my wedding ring... it's damascus/platimun.:D

That is a sweet damascus ring! ^

I leave my wedding band at home, but I can't stand not knowing the time so I always have a watch. That and a neck knife is about all the jewelry I wear when hiking. :)

I hate wearing jewelry and watches, I can't move my hands around the way I want to with the stuff on.

I always have my wedding ring on. Thats about the only jewelry I wear.

I don't consider a watch as jewelry.

My jewelry consists of a plain silver wedding band and a GI Jewelry cross on a ball-chain, and a simplified dog tag with basic info (name, blood type, no allergies). Never considered using them for improvised survival gear (beyond rubbing the dogtag on a rock or chunk of concrete, to make a blade).

The only time I wear a wristwatch is at work, when watching the clock is important, they jump our sh#! if we run over our shift. I'd carry it in a pocket in the woods tho, for helping with judging distance hiked and time left before dark, improvised compass, etc.
