What knives do you actually use day to day?

I know most of us are knife-knuts, and we own a lot of knives; probably a lifetime amount of knives that you could use without buying another one.... Some say they use all of their knives. Some say they use a couple and have their favorites (the comfortable dependable carry EDC)... That's me. So, what knives do you honestly use for 90% of your day to day non-kitchen cutting?

Me, I carry a large 111mm SAK similar to the Tinker (Adventurer model). This cuts most things daily. I also normally carry a Steel Will Mini Cutjack in M390 that I love clipped to my back pocket. Just added a Case Peanut to my watch pocket and we'll see how that goes. What about you?

I have other knives that occasionally find their way into my pockets, but these are the primary knives I carry day to day that I use.

I use everyone of my knives. Never saw a point in safe queens. I have about 75 folding knives maybe 15-20 fixed blades. None are one of a kinds etc. collection ranges from Walmart tan flippers to higher end Benchmades, Kizers, and Spydercos. To me a knife is a tool and should be used. However I know there are plenty of members on here’s who have way higher end brands then me. If a knife is too much to be scared of a scratch etc (subjective) or too pretty I may not use it so I avoid buying them. Fixed blades are pretty much all Esee and Becker’s those were made for use.

Whatever I happen to be carrying that day. I have a group of maybe 10 or so that get regularly carried, so those are the ones that get used. Were you looking for a list of my most often carried knives? It's an assortment of Case, Victorinox, and GEC slipjoints, and occasionally a ZT or Benchmade.

If you feel like making a list, more power to ya. It's a knife related chit chat thread. I also will carry the occasional Benchmade or ZT.

I carry a variety but I have taken out knives with rougher scales for those with clips at least as I wear dress pants to work so I don't like the added wear. I have begun to carry more traditional knives dropped in my pocket or in a slip dropped in my pocket. My main carry rotation now consist of Maserin 392/CN Starlight, Lionsteel Roundhead G1 Stag, Viper Knives EO, Buck 55, Opinel No. 6, Queen Tiny Toothpick Abalone, & Spyderco Lil' Lionspy. I don't think I left anything off the list I have some other knives that I don't carry as often just nights and weekends when I ain't dressed up for work.

I usually just stick with 2 at a time. I will carry a hard use course grit and a highly refined polished edge till I get tired of them and want something different. I usually carry for about a year and then switch. Mostly stick with zt, spyderco and benchmade

The two folders that I carry most are the Spydie Manix2 LW(work) and BM 707.

I always have a RAT RC6 and a machete in my truck.

I generally carry and use the Sebenza everything else I own is for something specific and they spend the vast majority of their time on my desk.

May I ask why?

If you have 75 folding knives, you are a collector. You don't buy 75 folding knives because you need 75 folding knives to use. Why would you decrease the resale value on every single one of them, by using them? I can understand that you like different kinds of knives and enjoy using them, but all 75? It sounds like you could get more of your money back, if you left some of them in mint condition to sell at a higher price later.

I don't have the number he has but I too don't believe in safe queens I buy a knife to enjoy it and I enjoy it by using it. I don't buy for resale value if I was I would buy much higher end and be flipping and I would probably never have more than 20 knives owned at a time.

I don't believe in safe queens either, so that's what was behind my huge downsize of knife accumulation. Just kept what was in my pocket on a regular basis. Knives that made the cut;

Small SAK's like classic, recruit, and an old Wenger SI.
Buck 301 stockman and 303 cadet.
Boker 240 pen.
Sardinian resolza made by S. Usai.
Leatherman squirt.

The classic is always on my keyring, and is teamed up with one of the others in a pocket. Choice is made by what I will be doing that day.

At the co-op store where I picked up the peanut the other day, I was surprised that a young fella pulled out is large slippie to show me his knife he uses every day. He said he does a lot of cutting at work in the store. The surprise was that it wasn't a modern clipped knife. He mentioned visiting SMKW (a few hours drive for him) and I told him that Knives Ship Free (KSF) just moved to Chattanooga TN. He wasn't familiar with KSF, but I suggested he look them up online.

I have been critical of Case knives in recent years, but other than the blades being a little off centered, it (Case Peanut) is just about perfect with good snap.

Most carried is probably my Tuff Lite, followed by the Crooked River mini. They take up 60% of my knife carrying nowadays, and with about 30 knives, some are never used outside of the house, like the Opinels or the Douk-Douk.

Most days I have a large yellow handle case stockman in my pocket. I got a benchmade griptillian which will always be in my pocket because my daughter picked it out. It also cuts like crazy . I guess my other most carried knives would be a buck 301, kershaw blur and a cryo 2. I have a couple others but these are what end up in my pocket.
If I had to choose one it would be the grip or the case stockman. But why choose just one:)

I tend to rotate every 3-4 days, but I use everything I own as far as folders go.

Tip up mod CS Tuff lite
Tip up mod M4 Spyderco Military
Spyderco Shaman
Victorinox tinkerer Warthog
and a J.E. Made New york special just joined the lineup this morning.
