What size standoffs?

I just got a minigrip with wilkins scales and I want to replace the back spacer with standoffs. Does anyone know the exact size of the standoff? Unfortunately I don't have a micrometer.

I will...hopefully Keyman will get back with us. For now here's my temporary fix.
IMO it looks better than the spacer. Close up makes it look fugly but from arm length looks fine.

I bet if you were to take those, put them inside of heat shrink tubing (like penny rolls/wraps), and melt the tubing to mold and custom fit to the washers..... it would look great . Plus you have the option of using different color heat shrink tubing for a variety of looks :).

The width of the standoff all depends on how far away the mounting hole is from the edge of the blade.
On a Wilkins that is quite far away.
So, a very wide standoff can be used.
With most other custom scale makes (including myself) that distance is much smaller.
So, a narrower standoff would be required.
Here's one of the most common ones used/available.

The standoffs pictured above can be tapped to be used as a standoff or drilled out to a larger diameter hole to be used as a barrel spacer.
On that Wilkins you are going to need barrel spacers (no threads), not standoffs (threaded).
So, that your long wilkins mounting screws will be able to go straight through the barrel spacer & reach the threads on the other side of the knife.

That's the ones that i was eyeing. Those are untapped (I see you said that now). Do you think the Wilkins screw would pass through? It says a 1-72 screw will pass but I don't know how that translates to a 2.5mm.

No, it will not.
I have drilled them using a pair of vise grips to hold them.
If you put a key (or pieces of a key) on both jaws before gripping the standoff; you wont scratch it.
The standoff is steel the key is brass, steel wins...so there will be no scratches on the steel.
It doesn't have to be a key either.
Just some metal softer than steel but about the same thickness as a key (aluminum).
Anyway, that is just half of your problem solved.
You still have to drill it! :(
A drill press would work best, along with some cutting fluid and a gentle hand.
Don't rush it, you don't want to break the drill bit off in the hole, believe me I know.
Luckily you only need 2. :D

Here's a pic.....

Thanks...looks like it might be a bit too much trouble. I guess I'll keep looking for alternatives. If you see any please let me know.

Got one drilled...broke my bit. Off to Lowes tomorrow to get some better bits and give the second one a go.
