What to do with discontinued benchmade in bad shape??

I ended up with a benchmade Emerson specwar cqc7. The blade is ruined from what I assume was a bench grinder.

The knife in question has some sentimental value, but parts have been dried up for years. Now for story time. It was my uncles back when he was a cop and the bm emersons first came out. It was also the knife he dug buckshot out of his arm after being shot one night LOL. Needless to say he had a coworker down the line sharpen it and ruined it. Being the awesome dude he is, he just stuck it in the safe.

Well come to find out he knew I was actually hunting one of the non waved emersons and mentioned it to me. We did some swapping and I'm into it around $120 which is fine even as a broken knife, just because me and him do some crazy swapping win some lose some. What should I do for a replacement blade? Will benchmade do anything?

Thanks,
Josh

JM2C:

1 - leave it alone for sentimental reasons. If you can't do that, go to #2.
2 - contact BM and see what they can do. They're pretty quick to respond.
3 - contact a custom maker to see if they can make you a replacement blade if #2 doesn't work out.

Any chance can upload a pic? Curious to see how bad it is. Having a custom blade made would be pretty sweet imo, probably will cost you more than just buying another cqc7 though, could swap the blade from the other one so can keep the handles and just have extra parts, I'd talk to BM, could still have blades around.

Regrind is out of the question, I'm capable of that, but it's too far gone. No pics, but know even in the closed position the tip is exposed roughly 1/2" or better is gone both from the edge and tip. It makes me sick to look at honestly.

It is very possible that benchmade has blades still. Even though it's been discontinued for a while, its still very possible. I sent in my old benchmade 42 which has been discontinued for 6 years (and god only knows when they actually stopped production) and they still had a couple blades lying around.
Plus if they have it, its only 35 bucks and shipping.

Weeho, Please send me a pic to my email through my avatar, would really like to see if possible.😊 If want me to upload to I will, if not would just like to see for myself, interesting.

As you can see a ton was ground away, is sad someone would do this to a knife that had never been sharpened.

I've got a blade I'll be glad to send you for free. I had a CQC7 that had the liner crack & fall apart right at one of the screws (I guess from stress-related cracking). I never got around to putting the thing back together, and the blade has been sitting on my bench for years...and years...and years.

Let me know your address, and I'll get the blade headed your way. crufflerjj@yahoo.com
