Hey guys, I just got a new blade and it came to me wrapped in cellophane and tape. The blade has a lot of residue and I want to get rid of it. What should I use to get it off without causing any damage?

I use denatured alcohol. I don't know if some products might be bad for f.e. coated blades. Perhaps someone could chime in? I don't own coated blades, just curious :D

I've found WD40 to get off the adhesive and then use rubbing alcohol to remove the WD40. Works great for me and I have used it on various surfaces.

Denatured alcohol is a favourite of mine for general gunk-removal. It's a mild solvent so it doesn't tend to attack things that you don't want removed, but it does a very competent job of removing tape residue, marker lines and other minor stuff like that.

I use the Tub O' Towels wipes. They're soaked with a water-based citrus solvent. Works on adhesive, sticker residue, and leftover Sharpie on a blade.

Yah...any sort of Goo gone...then wipe with alcohol to get rid of the goo gone, then oil...or whatever you like to do.

Good going! Be sure to add some rust protective agent, WD40 is awesome at dispersing water, not so good for corrosion protection afterwards. :)
