What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

View attachment 1315192 Been carrying the GEC bull moose lately. I rotate through these 4 cover choices. Really like the natural micarta & the red linen

If the plural of goose is geese, then is the plural of moose, meese? That’s a whole heard of bull meese? I know it’s wrong but I like it anyway lol.

Thanks to a fellow BF member @blades&wrenches who lives just down the road from me, we traded 86’s and enjoyed a little knife banter yesterday. I now am a proud owner of the sucker rod variety. I had a northfield amber gold bone but this is more my style with less bling.

Am I correct in assuming your user name means you’re a trans tech?

Thanks, I’ve been takin’ a hard look at my collection and I think it’s time to re-evaluate what I want from it. It’s a little late but I think it’s time to focus on a theme. It’s just so much more fun to buy what I want rather than justify the purchase.

What I have noticed is a lean towards less complicated knives. Small fixed blades are starting to interest me. :)

A sensible approach Ted, I know just what you mean  Looking forward to seeing what you find my friend :)

Great pic of that smashing pair Dan (the LF was a short-run SFO)

A pile of Ebony for me today...

Triple gorgeous John

Thank you Jack! I sincerely hope we can too Jack! :)

A great looking trio Jack! Be safe out there! :)

Thanks a lot buddy, I'm not going out today, but it can get pretty dangerous in here! :D

I’m doing some things around the house today! These two will be helping out! :)

I usually avoid modifying my knives with a couple of exceptions. But the smooth bone 78 seemed to be the perfect pallet for scrimshaw. I sent this knife to a very talented artist named Linda Layden, and I love what she did to to this knife. It really captures my imagination and seems to adhere to the time honored tradition of seafaring knives.

So where am I in my top 14 GEC patterns; 15, 25, 35, 42, 43, 47, 72, 73, 74, 77, and 78. Three left to go.

Beautiful ebony knives JohnDF JohnDF ! Perhaps my single favorite cover of them all. I got a laugh out of your comment about Jack Jack Black Jack Black rejecting your Case Wharncliff Trapper as a NON Lambsfoot. He rides herd very closely, but I can understand why he does it. The Guardians thread is unique and one of the best. As I was forced to trim down my collection, I reluctantly had to let all of my Lambs go. Now, I dare not post anything suspect over there. I do miss the Guardians and peep in every once in a while. It is like reading a James Herriot novel and very much worthy of Jack’s zealous guardianship. I have Yorkshire on my short list to visit when things settle down.

Thanks @AnW , I know what you mean. If it is not done well, scrimshaw can look tacky.

Linda did fantastic work there Leslie, it's a really special piece  Thanks for your kind words my friend - and my apologies to JohnDF JohnDF for missing his comments :D Sorry to hear your Lamb-less now though :( I hope I can show you around Yorkshire

Jack how do you like that sodbuster?

I like it a lot Taylor, it was a kind gift from our man @Pàdruig :) It combines well with the Big Lamb too :)

I started tying again this year after a couple year hiatus. I joined a club that met on Tuesday nights at a local brewery. Hopefully we'll be able to start meeting again soon!

Started nice and easy with some euro Euro nymphs ...

That's a fantastic line-up GT, great pics too

Have a safe Saturday, folks!

I didn't realise your Krein sheath had a ferro rod loop Gary  What wood is that on the handle?

Superb covers on that 83!
Thanks! I have really enjoyed getting reacquainted with her.
The natural stag has deepened a bit over time. If the lockup was just a little tighter it would be nearly as fine as my Moki. Nearly ;)

Surrounded myself with a bit of Ironwood today. Happy Friday, folks!

Spectacular, Sir

Switched to one if my other favorites for a few days. A slicey staggy stockman from Al Warren.

Knife porn, right there. Yup

I came to this place a few months ago. I realized that it's lockbacks that are speaking to me.
But there's so much to try :D

Still the 83.
Stag for Saturday and lockback to boot. I have no complaints :)

Stay hunkered guys. We'll make it

Nice, Greg. Thought it was Rachel's work at first, but Linda is quite talented too.

My own rookie mistake.
Jack Black Jack Black runs the best thread in town.:thumbsup:

Lucky. I'm having a heck of a time getting my students to turn stuff in. They all think they're on vacation.

Triple gorgeous John
Thank you, Jack. :)

Wonderful knives, John.;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you, Jose. :)

Slow day watching the kids while my wife is grading papers.

I don't know why but I cannot resist a knife with coined liners.....it's a burden I have to bear.

Two 861s, one recovered in amber stag by Glenn and the other an original in peachseed jigged bone.

The 861 is a great pattern, and that is a really nice 61ot. I have a few bone 861's with coined liners. Today I'm carrying the light brown one.
