Hi Johnnythefox ... Gary Wines only states that he started "years" ago and his aim is to create the finest quality knives you can buy.

Gary's personal history and history of the knife I posted includes the following ... Rosewood Lambsfoot Pen/Pocket Knife. The knife was commissioned by the famous Gary Wines who served in the 21 Specialist Air Service Regiment at Duke of York’s Chelsea HQ Squadron, as an armourer. Gary is a member of both the UK SAS Association along with the Australian SAS Association. This Lambsfoot Knife is a Special Edition of the standard Rosewood Lambsfoot. It bears Mr. Wines’ Makers Mark. This knife was hand crafted & hand finished in Sheffield, England. The lambs foot blade is manufactured out of Carbon 01 Tool Steel. Brass linings. Rosewood scales. Blade measures 75mm. Stamped G.WINES SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. Closed length measures 90mm. Weighs 90 grammes.

Gary Wines seems to specialize mainly in bushcraft and military knives. You may find more information about him and his knives with a google search.

EDIT: The quality of this knife as far as fit and finish is concerned is well above the 3 knives I have from A.Wright & Son and the 1 knife I have from Taylor's Eye Witness ... but it cost more than those knives and arguably I only have a small sample. I'm pretty sure Mr. Wines influence on the production process may have had something to do with it. Whatever it was, this one is a good one :)

I have had one for a while, and it is just above the fit and finish of AW&S. I don't have any of @Jack Black's SFOs, so I don't know how it compares to them. It is about like my new TEWs, maybe a bit better than new Rodgers and Wostenholms. As always, before use I sharpen and reset bevel if necessary.

I am a big fan of the Bose designed Case Collaboration Knives. However, it can be hard to find one without issues to be fixed. Case did a great job on this locking Lanny.

I like the jigging and well saturated bone dye especially. Case has always done exceptional jigging, but current production dye work can be poor.

Tony liked to see jigging extend all the way to the edges of the handle as far as possible. The last few photos show a jigged bone Saddlehorn he made for me. He explained that he shaped the handle before he did the jigging so the pattern would not be ground off during the finishing process.

I have noticed that most custom knife makers, even famous ones, just buy their jigged bone from someone like Culpepper. It comes in flat pieces already jigged. By the time it is hafted and finished most of the pattern is ground off. Tony would not accept that.
Nice info and pics!

Thank you, GT. :)

That Ka-Bar Sheepsfoot is cool... a real worker knife.:thumbsup:
Thank you :) ... The beauty of this one is in its simplicity. Its a good solid knife.

It isn't perfect but it's a good solid knife. Simplistic in presentation, there are fewer design features to become concerned with on examination. Easy to see this one as an everyday man's everyday knife. Though the price might belie that fact LOL. I'm very happy with it.
