What Would MacGyver Do?

I love it! Years ago I heard some radio D.J. complaining about his Christmas present. He said he usually gets something lame like a SAK. Now there is a guy I have no use for. Haven't heard him on the radio since. I have a bunch of Macgyver episodes on DVD. Watching those makes me happy to carry a Super Tinker. I guess I need a wonder clip now.

He would do this

>> fast forward into this time?
First he's gonna to be needing a phone

And then he's gonna be needing this to catch up with everyone else...

He should be in his 70's by now.
Sadly he might be having a tough time remembering things
Having physically taken a couple of direct hits to his head
For the foundation and apple pie
He might even have trouble opening up those tiny nail nick blade tools
He always did wave about his wrist in pain after punching out the bad guys.

I think he would have upgraded to a Vic plier based tool with all the extra attachments stored in the sheath and definitely would have some kind of super phone for electronics manipulation.

MacGyver's go-to knives were the Spartan and its earlier edition the Standard. Nowadays he would probably favor the CyberTool 29, an updated Spartan with a bit driver, mini-screwdriver, pin and pen.

Mac was also about minimalism. While I agree completely with some sort of smartphone and the smaller CyberTools make sense, I think today Mac would go with a minimalist plier based multi, like a Skeletool or maybe the old Squirt or Juice. My way out there choice for him would be a Gerber mp400 BO. If it was smaller I would say a Wave. I would love it if he kept it traditional with a SAK but I think the multis are too practical for Mac to ignore.

I think he would still carry something that he can put into the pocket of his pants. Maybe a SAK, but since there are several good multiplier based pocket size multitools nowadays, he might choose something like the Juice S2 as well.

Yeah nothing which shows or the bad guys would take it away when they lock him up as happened so often.

It's easy to figure out.

The Leatherman tool went into production in 1983. The first episode of MacGyver was in 1985. The show ran for a number of seasons, none of which had any Leatherman in it. By the last season of MacGyver, the Leatherman was off and running as a popular tool for outdoorsmen. Yet mac never used one.

If he was still around, I suspect that he would still be faithful to the silver cross. This would include a Swiss tool for any heavy duty stuff, like saving the world!:)

Now I'm off to have a Swiss cheese sandwich!

Wow. That's deduction at its best.
Admit it you are either Sherlock Holmes or even the real Mac Gyver.
Unless of course you would have to kill us for knowing then just deny it.
:D

I will admit that I did grow up reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle a lot, and even taking some his philosophy to heart.

"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

But I dare not tell you any more, I don't want to have to …
:D

There was on episode where the bad guys hired a female assassin to get rid of MacGyver. She carried a Leatherman tool.... Must have been their idea of Macgyver's antithesis - evil and carried a Leatherman.

Oh man, Carbon! With my recent split loyalty between SAK's and Leatherman, don't go there! Leatherman bad, SAK good. I need to go drink heavily!

Next thing you know ol' Carl will be carrying a Leatherman Wave, a full size Glock, and a Buck 110 on his belt. :D Be careful, friend, boat anchors are lurking around the corner.

Welcome to the dark side JackKnife. :D
I think Macgyver would carry a SAK but maybe tuck a rambler in his boot, well at least I'd love it if he did.
