What year was Buck 55 introduced?

Hello everyone-

I've been looking around the Interweb (and this forum) and haven't had any luck, so I was hoping someone could tell me when the Buck 55 was first introduced?

The year the 55 was first issued = 2005. The 55 should be a 55.5 as it is a small version of the 111, not the 110 IMHO. In the first photo below is an Ironwood 111 & 55.

As you can see in the photo below, the 55 and the 503 are the same size, just the blade shape clip-vs-DP (the blades are inter-changeable).

Here is a 503 with a 55 style clip point blade

Any time LB and welcome to the Buck forum. I like a larger knife for EDC than the 55/503. However, the style of this little knife make it a wonderful looking limited edition knife for the collection. Be sure to post some photo's of what you pick up at SMKW:thumbup:.

Wow, that 503 in the last set of pics is incredible!

I'll share some pics of whatever I get at SMKW. I haven't been up there in a few months (I only live about 60 miles away) and I have a need for a new knife and a few bucks in my pocket so who knows what I'll come home with. Thanks again!
