So I was planning to buy a folding karambit but I don't know what's a good one. I had my eyes other fox karambit 599 but I started to read that it was defective and the lock wouldn't work and what not. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I do have a budget hoping for something around $60-70 if possible. Thanks

Cheapest good one you'll find is the 5.11 Tactical, which goes for $80 at Knifecenter or BladeHQ.

I feel like the shrade karambit looks acceptable on paper but I can't say anything about the ergos. It's going to be very heavy as well.

The coldsteel tiger claw seems like a lot more knife but it's a bit over your budget ($120 at knifecenter).

I had a byrd hawkbill for a long time and mostly liked it. I think the nicer spyderco models (nicer materials) would work and the tasman salt would be in your price range I think. If you need the ring, these won't work.

I think mantis karambit is in the price range but I know nothing about it other than it seemed mediocre materials with a mediocre price to go with it but I really didn't care for the look.

The OKC ranger karambit is probably top of my list for folding karambits but I'm mostly past that faze after getting better at sharpening with a flat stone and enjoying that process more.

Depending where you're located, I still have my byrd hawkbill and I could forward that your way as I don't use it anymore. It does really need a good sharpen as I've neglected it for a while after using it a bunch and testing different ways to sharpen it without success.

Find a used Emerson Karambit or a used Spyderco Karahawk if you can. For the record I have never heard of the fox Karambit lock being defective.

Yeah, I assumed you wanted an actual karambit, but if you're okay with just a hawkbill, there's a lot more options. Spyderco Tasman Salt should be right around $70, or you can get the Spyderco Harpy for $90. Byrd Crossbill is a cheaper option at around $25, though I don't like steel handles myself.

Get an Emerson Kerambit.

Why do people do this? The guy lists a price range, and someone jumps in and suggests something almost FOUR times what he was hoping to pay? It's like some kid out of high school asking for advice on buying a new car, and someone comes along and goes "get a Porsche".

I don't own the Fox Karambits but my local knife store stocks them in all their varieties. I've played with them on multiple occasions and even recommended my friend buy one, which he did. None of the ones at the store had any lock trouble and the one my friend got and has owned for a while now has no lock trouble either.

What about the Bladetech Riptide karambit. I believe that to be within your price range. It also comes with an Emersn wave system and even a flipper tab. Check it out!
