A small hunter i just finished. It's Sandvik 14C28N at 62 HRC with a Micarta handle. It's for a friend of my brother who hunts and wanted a drop point with a shorter blade.

Yeah, this one is staying with me. I'm justifying it because people often ask me if I have a knife to show them, and I've only kept my mistakes, which I'm not crazy about showing off. This one I won't mind
I know exactly what you mean. Tend to carry around the failed ones. By failed I mean mechanically sound, but some mistake that doesn't make it perfect, but the blade will still do the job.

Another project underway. This piece of steel was sitting fullered and partially profiled for more than a year... up until about a week ago. Now it sits with the bevels and clip rough-ground, the tang roughed in, and HT completed. I even soaked it in vinegar for awhile to remove the scale. I hope to hit this in earnest over the weekend, but we'll see.

Dear god I want to see how that comes out!!

Just chugging away. The best photo I could get before my camera decided to stop working and I was ready to smash it with a hammer. :)

Also, those lines aren't scratches. Idk what they are actually, they only show up in the picture.

Working on a new three-finger EDC for myself after selling the one I have as avatar

Setup a portable forge cart and started drawing out some W2. Just learning how to forge. So far I suck with a rounding hammer and move steel faster with a 2 lb forging hammer.

What weight is your rounding hammer? Thy can be very aggressive in moving material around but you have to pay attention where it's going. I use it at a slight angle and swing the hammer in the direction I want the steel to go, kind like I'm trying to pull the steel twords me.

I spent the weekend with @J. Doyle and under his tutelage, this is what we came up with. It was a lot of long hard hours with barely a moment spared on idle chit chat, but, worth the sacrifice I think.:D Still needs some finishing touches, namely deciding whether to keep this as a take down and making a nice looking nut or making a plug and gluing it up. But I couldn't wait to share it because I'm immensely proud of how it's turned out. Thank you John. My meager ability with the camera doesn't do it justice.

Super nice man. I have the same problems as you. Only knives that stick around are blade blanks or mess ups. But I try and keep a good selection of pictures on my phone. Also my business cards have pictures of my knives on the back. But great job man, top notch. I would say if you came this far and it just needs a nice nut then keep it as a breakdown. That shows off fit and finish much more then somthing just epoxied.

JT, it's funny you mention this because the other night I forced myself to learn it. I thought about the design of it and realized why it was designed like it is. I canted it just a bit and it started working great. That and John (kuraki) gave me some advice on heating the steel hotter than I had been and it started moving under the hammer waaaay easier.
It's a 3 lb hammer.

There is some really fantastic looking work on here. Unbelievable what some folks can do by hand. I am amazed at the quality of the pieces. I am not even an apprentice yet, just putting my tools together. But I am curious at how I will do. We will see. Ya'll keep up the great work and postings. It helps to inspire new folks such as myself. No matter how old folks are. Be safe

Somebody was saying something about clean shops or cluttered. Check this out. Now this shop is 70' long counting the open area. I know it needs some cleaning out, I just don't get tuit.

I've been working on an integral khyber knife, in twelve bar composite damascus with zanjir elements.

My thumbs are super bruised and worn out from filing and stoning on the T-spine and bolster sculpting... hope to get it into the final etch and parkerize today.

Been following the full build on Facebook, looking like it will be a stunning knife when finished.
That T spine looks like a lot of filing and scraping, the result is worth it though!

That is just amazing. I don't have the words to describe it. What a piece of art. Fantastic piece. You should be very proud. Great work.
