Thanks ! I'm glad you like it Wait to see finished my first Puukko .................almost thereNatlek...those file knives are turning out VERY nice!
I just finished one that was supposed to have that type of shape. My rookie eyes rounded the damn thing off....
I really like that. Those grips would match the scales on my 1911 nicely.I've been working on these for a while.
I made checkered scales for this three finger knife, but wasn't happy with them.
I'm in to this to do the best I can, so take two.
Olive wood on thin ebony liners this time
Lookin' pretty
Lookin' good
For the indexfinger
The two brothers, the one in the back is black and white ebony on black ebony liners
Looks nice Kevin. Are those spacers G10 or Fiber? With all the discussion of my trials with Nitro-V, I thought I'd share one of the first cracked blades. This started life as a large fighter with a 7" blade. Since Bob Ross taught me we don't "make mistakes", we have "happy accidents", it's now an American Tanto thing with a 5.5" blade. I don't really do a lot of these chisel points, but the way it cracked just called out for it. View attachment 907158 View attachment 907159 View attachment 907160

Oh yeah... it should have a vent, IMO. The burner will run better. Do you find that things are rusting in your shop? You should have the fumes vented.Yep it is insulated, along with the obligatory satanite coating. I was having trouble getting proper kaowool here in Aus so i had to side with the generic ceramic refractory wool, which works fine, but the thickness is very inconsistent - so two layers were needed.
As for the vent... It doesn't really have one. The hole that the muffle pipe slides into has a slightly larger diameter than the muffle itself and that's pretty much the only thing that's currently acting as the vent. To be honest I wasn't exactly sure where i should put one. The plan was to assemble it and fire it up to see how the flame behaved so i could get a better idea on where to cut one out, but the whole thing just worked so i thought eh why bother.
Would cutting a vent still be worthwhile?
Thanks. G-10Looks nice Kevin. Are those spacers G10 or Fiber?
I like the look but it doesn't help me. I'm looking for blue and orange fiberThanks. G-10
carrys fiber. They don't show those colors, but you should call and ask. I use a lot of blue and orange g-10 spacer. Those colors are true and solid in g-10. Any reason for fiber over g-10?I like the look but it doesn't help me. I'm looking for blue and orange fiber
If it helps it run better, i should definitely look at cutting a vent for it then! Heh things definitely do rust in my shop, but not to the current degree of that shell. It's like that because I left it outside so long before I got around to assembling it. Ventilation is not a problem because I drag the thing outside whenever I need it... my shop is quite small and I don't feel comfortable running it inside. I should definitely put some caster wheels on it to make wheeling it in and out the shop a lot easier!Oh yeah... it should have a vent, IMO. The burner will run better.
