My first blade in S35VN. I'm pretty happy with this one since it goes in my kitchen. I enjoyed working with it. I ground it after hardening and was surprised how easy it was to work with. It was .140 stock so it's a lot thicker than I am used to but I gave it a good distal taper and it has a nice feel.
Finished shaping the handle on this Kwaiken. Just needs a little more hand sanding and polish to make er pop, a little more detail work on the blade, then on to some pants for this lil guy. I'm thinking a wooden saya of some sort.
I've been working in simple carbon steels for the ability to heat treat at home. My problem is I just look at them wrong and they stain. I have some 440c I've been needing to do something with. I may do a run and send them out to JT.
Finished second batch of pictures. Same steel, bit smaller, blade 1.6 mm thin (max), overall length cca 300 mm. Handle corian with brown canvas micarta, stainless steel pins and black fiber.
Man even cheap iron wood looks good. I bought a big batch on fleebay and it is one of my favorites. These will look better once they are cleaned up and taken to a higher grit and possibly waxed.
