I'm finally getting around to finishing this thing. Screwed it together with a wooden test handle to see how it feels. Blade is Uddeholm Arne, guard and pommel are bronze and final handle will be stacked leather.

Grinding in the edge bevel with a home made jig system. I wanted a sturdy edge, so I made it at a 30 degree angle:

My first time soldering a guard. I had a pretty big gap to fill, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out:

Epoxying the stacked leather for the handle. I put some buffalo horn in there as well, for looks and to get more even pressure at assembly:

Next is to shape the handle, final touches and then on to making the sheath.

Hi All, You don’t see too many Kepharts around here much anymore. Here's my tribute to the iconic blade in 1/8" Nitro V and Chechem. I stayed as faithful to the original as I could, including the profile (of course), convex blade, lightly convexed to the rounded spine and flared front scales. In general "everything that needs to be there is, and nothing is there that doesn't need to be" (paraphrased from one of the articles I studied).

Oh, I took liberties with the Campitas Turquoise inlays, mosaic pins and an improved "Tracker" sheath (the original sheath is just plain dangerous by today's standards). 20-18 1.jpg 20-18 2.jpg 20-18 5.jpg

These are two new designs I've been working on, both are called "Trek" one is 3.5 inch blade and the other is 6.0 inch blade. Both are made from .220 thick CPM-3V, they're being sent to Peters to be hardened to 60RC with Nathan Carothers low temper protocol.

Here is one of the 440C knives being epoxied up for handle shaping tomorrow.

Here is a simple fold over kydex sheathe with a small tek-lok I made.

Last weekend I got a wild hair and decided to create a "challenge"... more so for myself in order to see how efficient I can be in a day. And because it was so ridiculous sounding that I thought it would be fun. It did end up being "fun"... but I was pretty darn worn out the next day! :D Hope yall get a kick out of it.

Cheers, have an awesome holiday weekend!

I just watched this one. Good work! I too have a home gym/shop combo. Once I get the knife making process down I'll take a stab at something similar.

pretty much done with this one. My finish is slowly improving and I’m fairly happy with this one. I think it will make somebody a great user they don’t have to be afraid of abusing. Overall grind and shape getting better by my fit and finish slowly is improving as it needs to.

a quick filet knife for the son of a friend / client who with the virus restrictions is doing a lot of fishing this summer. 440C blade (bought as blank, but touched up the grind and finish), 59-60 HRC. I thought I would try something a little funky for the handle for the kid - these are laminated scales I have had kicking around for ~10 years.

Simple and useful looking. Knives should be that way.

Well, I didn’t get to any pattern welding this weekend, but I did get this little knife finished up. It’s 0.060” S35VN, Rc62, with padauk scales. I took it to 0.002” before sharpening at 11dps. A friend of mine wanted a copy of my wife’s paring knife (I know it’s big for a paring knife, but she has arthritis, and she designed what she wanted.) I made hers nearly seven years ago out of 15n20.
