I've been looking around on the net and have made some startling discoveries. One of the most confusing is Maxam knives. It looks like Maxam originally made kitchen knives and are now moving into the hunting, folding, lockback region (I'm not exactly sure about that). Anyway, they're knives look like good quality and are made with surgical stainless steel and all, but their prices are very low.
Does anyone know about these mystery knives?
I would appreciate any information you can give me on them (quality, history, value etc.). If you want to see a few of them, go to:
worldofwonders.com
and go to the knives section. Thanks a lot,

I have a MAXAM fixed blade that was a free gift with another purchase from some sporting goods catalog a few years back. It has a stainless steel clip-point blade made in Japan, on which some cheap silk-screened lettering proclaims it the "Hunter's Choice." The grip is a solid block of hard wood, and the knife really looks more like a kitchen or steak knife than a hunting knife. I like it, though, because it balances quite well.

I've seen a few other MAXAM knives, including a fixed blade with a rubber handle and a few plastic-handled folders. All were "discount" blades, on par with your average Taiwanese knife in the 15-25 dollar (US) range. They're not bad for the price, but for the same small amount of cash you can get a United Cutlery knife that's a little nicer.

FYI, "surgical stainless steel" is a marketing term that has no actual counterpart in the real world.
