Simple question. Not interested in a custom/production debate. Use common sense.

My largest production purchase was a Classic Large Sebenza with Damascus blade and wood inlays = $520

I'm sure you've got one that's more, right?

yeah, that's just about right.. sebbies are the most expensive production knives.. ever!

sam:eek:

My most expensive production knife is a small Sebenza.

Beyond that price I prefer the custom route.

Uhhm, it seems that would depend on your definition of "production". Also what about
historical value.

My vote in for Randall Made Knives.

Production = assembly line, off the shelf, new, not customized, not one-of-a-kind, etc., etc.

Basically, if I had the $750 talked about in this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=208692

What's the most I could spend on a new production knife?

Can't comment on most expensive production fixed blade because I don't own anything worthy of mention (a situation I plan on remedying). With regard to folders, my Sebbies beat everything else by a mile.

Are we looking for current production, or things like original Remington Bullets, some of which book over $3,000?

Well I do not have it yes, but the most expensive production I have bought is the new Emerson CQC-8 with the Surefire C-2/ It ran $329 for the set. Take off $90 for the flashlight and that makes the knife around $239. Of the current knives I have, the most I paid was a REKAT Pocket Hobbit for $155. Only reason I was willing to pay so much was because it was discontinued for a while and a forumite located one for me in a B&M in Alaska. Love the knife and happy with the price I paid in reality.

You need some parameters on your original question.

Old Colt Barry Woods........

As above, old Remington Bullets

There are some old production English knives that cost thousands.

No one mentioned the Gold Coin Sebenzas

There are some very rare knives that were made near the turn of the century that cost more than my car.

And what kind of car would that be?

1sks has a damascus Ultratech listed for 1,250 (retail 2k). It is limited but i would certainly say that it is production.

i would guess that the criteria should be:

Knife must not be unique.

Knife must be made by a company rather than an individual.

Price must be an actual observed price, and must be the price of the knife when it was new.

The BM49-SPL was awarded Most Collectible Production Knife of 2001. In order to qualify as a "production knife", they had to make 25 identical pieces within the year. So, there is one criteria.

My tried and true Sebenza's. Currently two large Classics, one with rosewood inlays and the other with brown leather inlays. Man you gotta love them Sebbies!:D  :D

Microtech

Micro Mini Halo 80 made $1400.
Dragon Slayer 2nd run 30 made $2000. +
CFO II non custom, 61 made $1650 +
Damascus Nemesis 107 made $1150.
Mirror Nemesis 95 made $1050

There are more, but I stopped at $1000.
