I was just wondering what you guys named them? I name my knives deceptively happy names like

"bubble clouds" for my sashimi knife.

What are yours?

Could I see bubble clouds? Sounds very bubbly in nature haha.

I can barely name dogs, forget knives.

Simple things like my hunter, tanto or I'll just call it by the brand. If I make a new one and its after an existing knife I'll call it that.

If I build up a big enough collection it'll be; Hacker, Slasher, Stabber, Cutter, Gutter & Skinner.

I give them lots of purdy names, like Siriana, Isabelle, and Cassandra.

Actually Isabelle is a hammer... but I guess it counts.

The names for my models of knives are purpose or ethnic area driven like Chop for a vegetable chopper, Long Slicer or Italian job for a northern Mediterranian style Chef knife.
I don't give them pet love type nick names but you are welcome to if you like! LOL

I've never named an inanimate object.

When do people call them these names ?
I going to try it the next time someone ask to borrow a knife. I'll tell them to be careful with ole "bubble clouds" and see what kind of reaction I get:p

I don't give my knives names. If it's a brand name and model, then that's what I call it. Such as Kershaw Leek. If it's a custom and the maker names it, ill call it that. If I doesn't have a name I call it knife.

Strange, I have named my truck, motorcycle, and firearms, but refer to my blades simply in the female gender as in, she or her. Of course I'll also refer to their given names and or numbers, 275 Adamas. I'm gonna try naming them, but it has to happen organically, you can't force a moniker on something, or it won't stick.

I don't name inanimate objects.

My knives come with names already like Victorinox Electrician or Case Medium Stockman. In case someone asks, "Hey, what's the name of that knife there?" I'd rather answer "Spyderco Delica" rather than "Susan."

All the knives I own already cAme with names. It would create confusion for them if I were to just make that change.

My GF named my ZT 560 "Ariel" because of the blue-green kryptoglow scale and custom ano'd job.
I dont mind because she actually carries it sometimes and it's hott :)
Other than that...Opi, Millie, Sebbie, etc.

Ker.

Or, if you want its full name, Ker Shaw. Also Kay Barr and Uncle Buck. Ethan is running around here somewhere.

Uh, no, I would never name a knife, nosiree...

Except sometimes in my own internal monologue, I catch myself reaching for Sting (my BM 943), or The Hulk (ZT 0300). :) They sorta named themselves, none other in the collection have so far...
