Today I laid out all my current knives and tried to decide what is my most used/carried knife if I was to only have one. I figured realistic use with EDC tasks. I don't consider an EDC to be for self defense as a primary concern but, you may factor that in if you do.

So heres my current collection, not going to list all the knives. Im guessing you guys can name all of them.

My general logic.

Use it!
Actually use the knife and sharpen it. Have no fear of cutting open whatever, stabbing into whatever and getting the knife covered in whatever (sand, dirt, goo, maple syrup, glue, salt water ).

Cost$
Since we all have budgets I figured a fair advantage to saying "could only have one" you could also buy that knife again if you lost it. For my my logic was you get cash back for all the knifes you didn't pic. I own a variety of price ranged knives and I have used some of my $150 range knives untill they broke. I just having something in me that says" why use that $200+ knife when I could beat up a $40 one". Doesn't mean I wont play with it..opening and closing...opening and closing. But for actual daily use. Not so much.

Again this is EDC, for example just something you would use at work to open a package of K-cups you ordered that showed up two days late and had no coffee yet that day so you need those k-cups opened and you need them opened now. OR maybe you have one of those over engineered thick clear plastic packages that everyone hates and always wonder. "Why is there so much plastic surrounding such a small product"

Like that stuff.

But Top three came down to this.

1. Dragonfly Salt Serrated - super light, great grip, love the steel and the tip design and awesome clip.

2. Wave Endura -Super fast opening, thin in pocket, big blade, opens BEERS!

3. Salt 1- super light with a bit longer blade than the Dragonfly. I will say the serrations are a tad bit aggressive compared the the dragonfly and tear more then cut. Dragonfly gives a cleaner cut. The clip is so damn long. Great Ti clip thats strong but its just so long and kinda ugly. Its wide in my pocket. Wider than the Endura wave. I may wave this knife which would help with width, opening and cut down on weight ever so slightly.

Honorrable mention BM 904- Tanto tip is great for digging into stuff and not fearing it will break. Not the best grip on the knife. But deep carry clip and axis lock rocks.

Also, really love the Izula. My wife however loves them more. Her top favorite is the Esee Izulas and these are hers.

How is that SS Izula ? I almost got one the other day.

And I do like the 450 cant stop playing with it

Manix 2 XL pretty easily. Just works better for me than anything else I've found. I'm hoping to get similar performance from the upcoming Benchmade Crooked River, so I can add a bit of style to the substance.

There is only one

SAK Super Tinker.

Every other knife has come and gone
But the SAK been going on over 20 yrs.

Under appreciated.

Victorinox Alox Cadet. I've carried it nearly every day since I got it 3 years ago.

I got the ss for corrosion resistance as this is an edc neck knife. It's 440c an holds a reasonable edge. I probably touch it up once every two weeks. Great knife, use it all the time. Definitely recommended.

If I could only have one edc, it would be a fixed blade.

I also carry a dragonfly everyday in my coin pocket along with whatever i decide to carry that day. Then when i get home i switch out for my leatherman juice, because it comes in handy, especially having screw drivers on hand all the time. Then on my days off i switch through all my nicer knives. The viper keeper seems to be my go to lately, enjoying it alot.

Man,.....tied for first would be my SAK Cadet or SAK Farmer.

Second would be a Spyderco Techno I bought a couple of years ago. I was always going to buy one of those ZT beasts, but I can't think of any of them that would do EDC any better than the Techno.

I think my Spyderco paramilitary 2 is a perfect edc. I think my ZT 350 is a tank of an edc. But in terms of what I truly want out of an edc.. Which include: Lightweight, good steel that I can sharpen easily, great ergos, and one hand opening and closing.

I use my Ontario rat 1 more than anything. I don't mind beating the crap out of that knife, I can sharpen and clean it easily, and for the price, I don't have any complaints. Sure, the tip got dull and chipped, there's heavy signs of use, but I can depend on it.

Secondly, my Spyderco Delica 4. I got the grey one. That thing slices like no other. And it feels great in my hand. I was unsure how I'd like the frn and its texturing, but I am completely in love with it. And it disappears in my pocket. I don't feel it weighing down my pocket like my ZT 0350. And when I reach in, I don't feel the knife scraping across my pinky lol

My usual carry for the last while has been the 4 pictured in my work van. My go to blade is the domino, it rides clipped front right hand pocket. The sebbie gets the second most use. I carry it back right pocket clipped and it carries so nicely I forget it's there. The other two are in the same pocket as the domino. I know it sounds like a lot to carry but I wear carhart bibb coveralls and I don't notice them at all.

The domino is somehow just the right size for me. It doesn't feel too small when I'm slicing cardboard and it doesn't feel too big when I'm doing finer work. I love the ergos on it. I noticed the seb feeling longish when I'm doing the finer stuff, the extra blade length makes some tasks feel dangerous. Thinking of trying a small some time down the road.

The sak basically rides along solely for the flat head screwdriver for access panels and whatever. And the GEC is just a bonus that I use to change things up or lend to a co-worker to cut stuff.

The caly 3 was my very first real deal pocket knife and I carried it solely for over a year. I still love it and carry it from time to time but it's semi retired.

The hinderer has been carried a fair bit and as much as I love it I don't carry it much anymore. The Slysz is a great knife also but can't seem to kick the domino out either. The zt might become an edc in place of the domino some day, I love that knife but it falls in right with the sebb as feeling a bit long. A lot of the cutting I do is heavy cuts close to the body so I like the feeling of having good control.

The buck vantage and the case mini trapper I just picked up when I was on vacation last week, don't really plan on using them I just wanted a knife while I was out of country. Oh and found a Keychain knife with my boys name on it so I had to buy it:D

I showed the wife your picture she wants one now. I think I'll find some fun para chord to wrap the handle with for her as a surprise

I think my favorite EDC out of the dozens of knives I own is my KSF Exclusive ZT 0770CF. It continually beats out its competition for pocket time.

What's not to like about a DLC-coated M4 blade with nicely done CF scales? It's extremely lightweight, has great ergos for my hand and fires like a rocket after being de-assisted. I'm not afraid to use it for any typical cutting task that I come across in my daily activities.

I'm actually thinking about buying a second one as a backup just in case KSF stops carrying them.

90+% of the time I carry a Leatherman Wave in a belt pouch. So, if I could only chose one knife it would be my PM2. If the Leatherman was excluded, my first choice would the SAK one-hand Trekker, 2nd choice the SAK Farmer.

For folders, its the Wilson Combat ELC in Elmax. Absolutely fantastic little knife. Feels great in pocket and hand, amazing edge retention, and the dlc holds up VERY well.

Pistol goes to the Sig Sauer P229 in .40 S&W. Solid platform, carries well, and just damn well made.

And fixed blade choice is the Havoc Works EDC in S35VN. Awesome little do it all fixed blade.
