It's in the wrong section, but a Mod will move it to Gadgets & Gear.

To answer your question, I've had the best luck with Surefire and Maratac lights. I have 6 Surefire and 2 Maratac, all of which have worked flawlessly, some for over 8 years, and I carry either a Surefire E1B or a AA Maratac daily. Others have had good luck with Fenix, but my sample of one stopped working after 6 months. No experience with any other brands.

As a testament to Maratac quality, my wife went running with my G-Shock watch ONCE, and she broke it, don't ask me how. She has had one of the Maratac AA lights for almost 2 years and has not broken it.

Probably belongs in "gadgets and gear". I'm sure one of the friendly Mods will move if appropriate.

So, it's an interesting question, and I'm sure there are more than a few flashlight junkies here who will chime in. I really like Surefire - solid made lights that will last a lifetime. I own several. But here's the rub; Surefire charges a premium for their lights, and in my experience you get less than what the competition offers for the price.

I noticed other manufacturers selling innovative powerful designs at a fraction of the cost, so I started to branch out to Fenix, Nitecore, and Eagletac. I've been very happy with the F&F on all three. All very tough, none have failed unexpectedly. All have been dropped (several times by accident) and continue to function. At this point in time I have to say I like Fenix best, but really can't articulate why...so take that for what it's worth. I no longer consider Surefire for pocket carry lights, but will still consider (and currently use them) them for weapon mounted lights.

For a powerful little single cell EDC check out the Eagletac D25C. The Nitecore P12 is another high lumen pusher in a pocketable package. If you're looking for a monster search light check out the Fenix TK75.

At the bottom left of your opening post is a triangle with an exclamation point in it. That is the "report post" button. Click it. In the pop-up window, ask one of the super mods to please move your thread.

Four Sevens Quark Pro or Tactical 123 (2) deserve a look. Good, tough lights, and my current edc.

The 2AA model is nice and convenient, but the QP2LX Burst model (2 cr123a) will hit 780 lumens

4sevens are pretty good, surefire rocks, and if you want to get into really good stuff check out lenslight, McGizmo and Prometheus

I love Malkoff lights and their P60 dropins. They are built like a tank. I used their P60 dropin in Surefire and Elzetta bodies. The Hound Dog and Wildcat heads have one of the best heat control in the market.

Eagletac. Absolutely nobody does it better.. I am in a field that uses and abuses flashlights, and I have tried them all. Nitecore, Surefire, Streamlight, 4/7's, Fenix... even Overready and some other custom builds etc etc. I even custom build P60 drop-ins which will scream like no other, but if pressed to recommend a light will swing the Eagletac line.

Eagletac lights are built like a tank, have the highest output of the field in most cases, and their customer service is bar none. I currently carry a D25C Clicky for EDC duty, and a T200C2 on duty. The T200 doesn't have any gimmicky output ranges, no strobes, no weird useless SOS modes. Just straight up and easy to dial High, Med and Low. Low is great for the creep around, and the High will absolutely knock someone off their feet. It also has a beautiful beam profile, with a tight and long throwing center spot and great spill that runs out in a nice cone.

I have gone hand to hand and used my old T10C2 as an impact weapon, and done glass breaking duty with it. No worries, fired right up without even a flicker afterward. Nice o-ring seals, and nice thread lockup are two other traits that keep me coming back. Also, their Sportac P60's are great too for your Surefire 6p's and the like... Of course, if you want a 5a 1200 lumen screamer, drop me a line...

Now, if you just have to have cool... nothing beats a maratac AAA in copper. If and when they are in stock... Just pure class with an output that will surely satisfy on a single AAA...

A woman that can break a GSHOCK is a legendary thing. She is The Chosen One.

I have only been able to experience fenix brand and nebo, because i rather spend money on a new knife instead of a flashlight but my newest aquire was the fenix UC40 ultimate edition and i love it carry it daily, way better then the nebo red line, and its brighter than my fenix e21 but the e21 has better throw. The UC40 is better for when you need a light that has more of a flood light effect.

My Fenix PD32 has been outstanding, and I am looking to get a ThruNite Archer 1A as an edc light shortly but it looks very promising.

I only have two at the moment, both of which are from Spotlight Gear; the Shifter 2.0 and 4.0. Loving them both so far.
