Where Can I Get a Sheath Like This?

I need another one of these "generic" style sheaths for my new Ratweiler.
The one you're looking at came with my first RW from the exchange as shown. Looking for a temporary low cost solution maybe $15-25. Spec Ops are nice but don't want to drop $50 on these right now. Also going to need another one that will fit my 5/16" BG Fusion Steel Heart. I don't have funds for any fancy sheaths right now, I've been trying to find this style online but no luck. Anyone know where I can get this style?

I have one of these Ka-bars,
but the snaps won't close around the RW's beefy handle:

Also found this one online but it's got a snap
and I'm looking for the velcro wrap more like the one in my photo below:

This is what I'm looking for...

...... has Robert's customer service/lead times and communication improved at all ? My (and many others if you access his archived forum here) experience left a bad taste and was in fact the reason I joined BF in the first place (to try and communicate with him).

Honestly, don't know....just know this is the type of sheath he pioneered....if there is a bad situation, I rescind my recommendation!

FB,
That's a sheath that you could get from all three companies back in the day. I have one that came with my BMe.
Not sure if you will find them anymore. The closest thing is the sheaths that Ka-Bar Becker line comes with, so that might be the place to look.
You can fairly easily replace the strap with snap to one with Velcro, you'd need some webbing, Velcro, thread and needle...

.... there was never a problem with the quality generally of his products, just the taking money and not delivering or communicating for months and months beyond the delivery times. I ended up having to get a mate in Oregon to chase him up for me just to get a response to an email. I was no alone in this.

There is definitely a shortage of generic cordora nylon sheath makers. Which is very surprising. I've searched high and low. Spec-Ops is just about the only brand that makes 3 different sized (4", 6", 8") sheaths, and none will fit the Ratweiler. With so many "Tactical Tailor" type retailers that make cordora nylon products, you'd think there would be more that made one size fits all sheaths.

I agree 100%, and I think it's time for Busse to start providing sheaths with their knives, or at least offering them as an upgrade. Ka-Bar/Becker and Tops have no problem doing this.

Fortunately, I just discovered that the old mystery sheath with the velcro in my OP will fit my new Ratweiler nicely, and the snap sheath from the Becker BK-7 works with my old school Ratweiler with the thinner micarta, (these are currently available online) so I'm good to go. But yeah, there is definitely a need for more of these types of sheaths in the market place.

So here are the two sheaths side by side; the one on my older Gen 2 RW (on the left) is the new Ka-Bar Becker BK-7 model which actually has an insert that fits and holds the RW very nicely. This sheath is readily available online and very reasonable. You could use this same model sheath on the new RW with 1/4" steel (knife on the right), the only thing you would need to do is move the snap button on the retainer strap about 1/4" so it will close around the thicker micarta.

If you have the 3/16" RW, it might fit perfectly as is, but I can't say for sure since I only have real RW's not one of those skinny things. (j/k guys) :D

Fortunately, I tried the old sheath with the velcro strap that came with my Gen 2 RW and it works with my new 1/4" RW perfectly, so I am really pleased. Hope this helps!

Oh!!! You had to go there!! :D I'll bet the snapped sheath will fit the 3/16 as is then. Good find man.

Well, okay I have another update on this.

I had ordered an extra BK-7 sheath last week, and it came in late this afternoon, so I just checked it out and GUESS WHAT; this one fits the new 1/4" RW perfectly!

I guess the retainer strap on this one is a bit longer and sure enough it snaps just fine. Are the retainer straps all going to be longer like this? I don't know, but it's worth a try and like I said before, the snap could be shifted if required.

So there ya go guys, looks like that's a nice economical sheath for your awesome new Ratweilers, courtesy of Ka-Bar.

Not sure where you got yours, but since knifecenter is a paying dealer here, is this the one?
That was a typo, I typed RD-7, but meant BK-7. (fixed it)
The extra one I ordered is like the one in my photo with the snap; for the K-Bar/Becker BK-7, see the link in my original post, or even cheaper on Fleabay.

By the way, I actually have a Ranger RD-7 by Ontario (great knife) so I just checked that sheath; and to me it looks like the one in your link. Velcro strap located way up at the top.

I also tried that one on my new RW and - BINGO! - it fits great. So congrats buddy, looks like you just found ANOTHER nice economical sheath for the Ratweiler, available at Knifecenter. Nicely done HK!

Nice. I think I'll be ordering the BK7 sheath to try out if I don't get these SPECOPS liners fitting. I have one of those old Busse sheaths... on a Yard Guard currently I think. I never liked the lexan insert or whatever it is on those but I bet it fits. In related news... RTAKII sheaths fit the 3/16" - with wasted space of course but they have two adjustable straps. Def wide enough.

I tried the sheath that is on my Yard Guard and it does go into the sheath however it bottoms out (the knife will pierce a hole though the canvas - the lexan liner has no bottom). Dog Father sized sheath of the same type fits but wasted space and sloppy fit.
