I wanted to buy some quality paracord to start making knots, lanyards etc for my knives and was wondering if there is a website or store that’s a great resource for buying paracord. Im new to this so even help with what size I’ll need and such would be appreciated.

Thanks

I like the MSR 3mm reflective utility cord, available from REI

A) go to the local surplus/tactical store and look at what they have
2) add some to your cart from anywhere you get other gear from

100' will last for years

There's "paracord" and there's "550 paracord".
I normally look for the stuff labelled as "550 paracord". Bonus points if it is labelled "made in USA". Some is. Some isn't.
The actual "MIL spec" paracord is still "550 paracord" and the color selection is limited. (Military doesn't need fluorescent green or bright blue.)

At the paracord store silly goose ;)

Go look up “ The Paracord Store”, that’s where I’ve bought from. They have a good selection of colors and different sizes. I like the 425 series, easier to thread stuff through and still big enough to look nice.

My local Big R and Murdoch's feed stores always have large quantities of nylon and natural ropes, including paracord in all sorts of sizes and colors. Some is 550, others not. Some made in US, others not. It's worth going into a place to handle it and see if you like it.

PS, I love your avatar, Sbs1974 Sbs1974 . Is it the automatic or the manual wind Speedy?

I get my 550 from Walmart (hardware dept.). I use it for actual cordage, and it's worked great for me for a long time. As I recall they only have a few colors (red, gold, black).

Hobby Lobby sells a variety of sizes and colors of paracord. So if you want to examine sizes and colors in person before buying, and if there's a Hobby Lobby in your area, that could be an option.

I always prefer hands-on, in-person shopping over online shopping whenever possible. Not only can I examine what's available, but I don't have to wait or pay shipping.

I've had real good luck with a place called Bored Paracord out of Georgia. Just google Bored paracord. They have an amazing assortment of colors. Like going into a candy store!
They are Veteran owned and have decent prices.
