Where is Sanrenmu 763 w/ G10?

So I am new to the forum so I hope I don't get crucified, but I am thinking of checking out some of the high quality and affordable knives coming out of Chinese companies like Sanrenmu and Bee(Enlan). One knife that caught my eye was the Sanrenmu 763, mostly due to the capable axis lock (no I cant afford a Griptilian).

So my question is, where did this knife go? I searched on Ebay and can only find the aluminum handle. The only g10 version I found was going for $60 and that was from a Chinese seller. This leads me to believe that these knives are no longer in production.

Like I said i am new to knife collecting so I don't know the best places to look but it seems to be that this knife isn't out there anymore. Can anyone tell me why? Also, should I just go for the aluminum handle? I was hoping for a lighter knife. Maybe someone can recommend something similar. I really want an affordable EDC with a capable axis lock. Thanks

Try a Ganzo 710.

A complete rip off of a Benchmade's Contego, we don't support these knives here on BFs.

OP, try buying a knife from a reputable company not one ripping off other company's designs. Save up some money and buy a quality knife from a reputable source.

Ontario Rat, Utilitac II and numerous Kershaws can all be had for a bit more money. The Kershaw/Emersons are a great value.

Yup. What he said. Save your money a bit and buy from a company that doesn't make copies, fakes, and out right counterfeits. The axis lock is a patented feature that Ganzo, Enlan, Sanranmu use without permission and they call it an Axis lock. It is thus counterfeit. Plus, it is no where as good as the real thing.

For $25 you can get a Utillitac II or a RAT 1. Much better quality and from a good company.

I thought I've seen others talk about Sanrenmu, Ganzo, etc here before...sorry if I was mistaken.

Craytab is likely more on the ball than I am (most people are) but I've seen a lot of recommendations for these knives, yes. It's not really "recommended" and I don't buy them myself, but there are members here who like them. I don't think you're out of line. But I guess it's a difference between preferring these knives and recommending them to new members here. I do not know.

While not expressly banned from conversation in the forum rules, any knife that infringes on American copyright or patent law hurts our hobby. The Ganzo, Sanran, bee knives do this when they claim the axis lock. Further the Ganzo 710 is an exact copy of a BM 950 Rift. Just different materials and branding. Recommending such a blatant rip off and copyright infringed knife that hurts our hobby will get you some flack here, and deservedly so.

Now, The 3 big Chinese companies do make some of their own designs. I even recommend the Enlan EL01 quite a bit. I own one and it is a good knife. Still though, the company that makes it is questionable at best. These companies also more than likely produce the out right counterfeits of the PM2, dragon fly, and many others.

Thanks for the clarification Cray. I actually assumed the Enlan is also a rip in the same vein as Ganzo, etc. I didn't know that it is in fact its own thing. That makes more sense as I see it recommended (with user pics) quite a lot here. Perhaps I'm thinking of the Enlan.

Without really knowing I believe Enlan, Ganzo, Sanren Mu, Navy, Bee all to be the same company or a subset. The same knife is often sold under different branding.

I bought an SRM 763 years ago for I think $7. It was really small, somewhat flimsy, the blade had side to side play, and the lock mechanism was sticky. I gave it away. It wasn't a very good knife so I wouldn't bother looking for one.

Thanks for all of the input. I actually didn't get as much aggressive feedback as i thought I would. I guess a part of likes starting trouble sometimes. One of the reasons i am interested in some of these cheap Chinese knives is to experiment with stone-wash and other mods. I am getting a tenacious for Xmas so I may start there if I don't end up buying a cheapy soon.

We can suggest some cheaper options if you want to get into modding, etc. Although the Tenacious is fairly affordable, I reckon.

Another worry about modding these chinese branded knives is a lot of them use a proprietary pivot and the rest of the hardware is very soft and will not serving much tinkering.

In answer to the original question, the G10 763 was discontinued a while back. As I understand it the axis lock version of the 763 has also been discontinued. The current version has a liner lock.

I like the Enlan el04 mct. The micarta type handle is pretty nice. It's great for $14. Definitely not on par with my Spyderco knives but the one I got is pretty nice for the money. It's useable and I actually enjoyed carrying it. The blade is thick though so I had to thin it out a little to improve performance.

the chinese copies of the axis lock work but are stiffer and more uncomfortable to use, and are much harder to take apart and modify than BM knives

The G10 version of the SanRenMu 763, the GA and GB are no longer produced. There is a 7063 both in liner lock and the original Axis version, they are aluminium scaled and anodised in several colours, I have both and believe me they have neither sticky locks or any play in the blades. If they did they have adjustable pivot screws.
