I am looking for the cheapest and most reliable place to buy my knives from now on. Thanks.

What kind of knives? Custom or production? Shipping is also a factor; USA? West? North?

Yes. If you want REALLY cheap try the back of Boy's Life. They sell junk knives cheaply and deliver on time.... on the other hand, the best deals are to be had by patientily lurking under the knoves for sale (individual and dealer) right here and the odd auction... I have 2 or 3 dealers I use because of such prior transactions... But then again, most of what I buy now are customs from makers and collectors.

Cheapest and most reliable? While I am sure that they are not mutually exclusive, I have found that the cheapest places often tend to be less reliable, as they are usually a sideline for the operator and don't keep a large stock on hand. You might get a great price, but will likely have a bit of a wait involved.

Depends on what you consider cheap. I've found these to be very good as far as pricing:

1. Wicked Knife Company (Newt Livesay)
2. Mid-South Shooters Supply (800) 272-3000.
3. Discount Knives
4. Knives Plus (Mail Order)

There are many other fine companies to buy from - the main thing is to shop, shop, shop. Don't rush in to any purchase. Compare prices, and you will be surprised.

The Buy Sell Trade (Individuals), section of this forum is a great place to shop.

Happy trails...

. . . also, don't be afraid to ask someone to match prices. Many dealers will do this, even if they don't advertise that they will.

I've yet to be dissapointed with their prices or service.

Although they could add:

These comments are for decent quality production knives only.

As a knifenut on a budget, I really shop around, but I prefer to stay local with as many purchases as I can. You may not be able to use the cheapest and most reliable places I've found. Both AMH & TSC are local, and I only see them at Gun & Knife shows.

AMH Cutlery - Hoag & his son are among the best. They have hidden treasures which you may not find elsewhere.

Total Sharp Cutlery Company - Mike & Tammy have been very good about price breaks for regular customers. Totally reliable.

MJ&S Knives - Mark is really great about giving the customer what he wants at a reduced price. He's easy to find on the web and very responsive to email.

Ultimate Outdoors - Cliff Hanks carries a limited selection, but some of his prices are really good. I found a Civilian there at a rock bottom price last year.

I know there are a lot of other really great dealers who can be both cheap and reliable. Because my budget is pretty limited, I have not been able to order from many of the fine dealers you can find in the BladeForums links.

I almost didn't post to this question because I didn't want to leave out some of the really good dealers just because I haven't ordered from them. You should check The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! forum and search through those posts. There are a lot of good comments in there.

thanks guys. The specefic knives I am looking for are an Ontario 18" machete with self sharpening sheath and a carbon v bush ranger. If anyone reading this would like to help me get these knives please visit the knife f/s trade site and the trading post. I must sell my next generation ka-bar and my blowgun. Thanks.

You'll need several over a period of time. All the above are great.Add Bayou Lafourche(www.knifeworks.com).Roger will meet almost any price.(1-888-225-9775 if the one you want isn't listed on his website. He may well have it in stock). One will be cheaper on one knife, another cheaper on the next.Try to stick to BF advertisers for reliability.Read the Good,Bad,& Ugly forum.

Bayou Lafourche has done real well for me lately. I've also done real well with blowoutknives.com.
