Recommendation? Where should I get steel?

Hi guys!

I've been surfing the internet in the past weeks, trying to find a great place to buy some steel for knife making, but since I am a "newbie" I don't know where should I look. I live in Europe, so the 1080 is out of the picture, so I thought about M1 1.2842 and 15N20 if I ever got to the point of experimenting with damascus steel. I found knife making websites, where the prices are rocket high, or the product is sold out, but I doubt there's no other way to find these steels. Wherre should I search?

I can buy from local steel suppliers.

However, most steel suppliers are strictly structural, I beams and angle iron.

You need to find a specialty supplier for tool steel that will sell to an individual.

Not everything is online.
Find a phone book, or talk to people.

I'm from Hungary.

I tried to reach people, even some of my parents old contacts from steel suppliers, but I won't give up searching then. If you have any other advice, please, let me know!

Dictum, in Germany sells a variety of knife steels. Sandvik should be available, too.
