I bought some Damascus to try out on a few blade designs. The etching directions said to use Ferric Chloride to bring out the pattern. I tried Radio Shack for their P.C. Board etchant , but it is no longer sold . Any ideas?

that is a cool shop. I had no idea how many different kind of tweezers were out there. Good link:thumbup:

Mickey I just bought 2 bottles at radio shack here and I was told they just got them in, maybe they can order it for you.

Try Fleabay! I bought two pounds Dry earlier this year. Get plenty because it cost 10.00 for hazardous shipping. If it is 1 pound or two pounds. I think I paid 32.00 for two pounds.

radio shack is only as good as the idiot behind the counter, also their enclosed mall stores don't stock building supplies, only consumer electronics, the freestanding/stripmall stores still stock parts and supplies

I got mine in dry form off off eBay. None of the RS out here in paradise have it either.

When I lived in paradise I had to get it shipped in dry as well. An ebay seller named quartzpegmatite as I recall gave me a good price and prompt service... now that I have moved back to a colder version of paradise, I find that Radio shack has it on the shelf here, although no longer as "Archer Etchant" but as radio shack PCB etchant, which looks to be mostly Ferric but with some proprietary ingredients added. The dry stuff works great for me.

I bought PCB Etchant from local radioshack a couple month ago. They still list it on their site - here it is. There is a link on that page that allows you to check the availability in the store near you and ship to store in case they do not have it.

I bought a bottle about 3 months ago at my local Radio Shack. Like mentioned, a lot has to do with the counter help. A nice young lady looked it up in the computer and couldn't find it. Then we went back to where it would be if they had it. She couldn't find any but I saw the bottles of PBC etchant. I showed her where it said "ferric chloride" on the bottle. She said she would remember that. I doubt she even works there now. I don't go in that store much but have never encountered the same employee twice.

Try an electronics supply house. I went to a local outfit and found it by the gallon. They also had pints and quarts too. Radio Shack is hit or miss at best.
