Is it possible to buy Flitzn, Metal-Glo, or any equivelant(sp?) in stores such as OSH or Home Depot?

I know you can get them online, but I dont want to go through the ship-them-to-me-now-cause-im-very-impulsive-so-ill-pay-for-the -ridiculously-overpriced-overnight-shipping mayhem.

Thanks for your help!

You can get Mother's Mag Polish at most any store that sells auto polish items. It works very well.

In a thread a few days ago a lot of people were saying they could get Flitz at their local Ace Hardware.

I use Flitz and Simichrome and Maas. Maas was recently recommended to me by a knifemaker at a show. I've tried it initially on some beater blades, and it seems to be terrific. Not only that, but I was able to get it at my local Walgreens.

Also DillmanUpton.com ships Flitz reliably for $1.25.

Happy polishing!

There is a walgreens just a 2 minutes away from where i live. I just got back frmo ACE hardware, but they do not carry Flitz.

Also, anyone heard of never-dull? Is it any good?

MAAS can be found at Walmart and works just as well as flitz. (and about half the price) It will polish just about anything on a knife including blades, bolsters, stabilized or unstabilized wood, stag, bone, celluloid, micarta, brass, nickel silver, stainless steel, or aluminum.

our local Ace has had maas & flitz

Mother's mag/alum polish works

Mothers Billet Polish seems just a tad better to my eye
more expensive though, ~9$ locally

its a very quick polish that is extremely fine
Try to polish a satin blade & you get a brighter satin
Won't remove -any- scratch unless you get down on it
with strength and speed
For final polish, -might- be good on a belt-sander or wheel
using cloth or leather........?
I've always used it by hand
search 'billet polish' in these forums

nvr dull wadding - often recommended, but
Some sources say non-abrasive.............
...my impression is that a wipe with mineral spirits often removes a lot of crud....
my own can of never[nevr]-dull [long in the back on some shelf]
I wouldn't call a polish,
big scratches in softer metals
so big grained abrasive
never used on a knife
Maybe there are more than one polish of similar name/type...?

check out machinist suppliers for lots of polishes
often at better prices

I got a tube of Maas at Wal-Mart for about 3 bucks or so. A little goes a long way, and it has the mild abrasives in it so you can even buff out a light scratch with some elbow grease. Works great.
