Where would you go?

So I inquired about an outdoor survival school and one of the posts got me thinking.

If you were able to go on a 7 day hike, anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I have a stupid number of airline miles and I'm debating the idea of using a few to go some place crazy. So how about it fellas? Where would you go if cost wasn't an option?

If you just had to get there, where would it be?

First that comes to mind would be a summertime Alaskan trip. I'm sure if I gave it some thought, I could think of some more exotic places but I've always wanted to see the Alaskan forests.

My second thought was Redwood National State Park but I wouldn't want to run into anyone else (yuppies). I think if you hike far enough into the back country areas you would be ok.

Third is Grand Canyon National park or something similar. I'd love to camp out under a rock somewhere in Arizona.

Edit: The places in the link above look amazing! I'd love to see those someday too. Since I've spent some time overseas already, I promised myself I'd explore my own country a bit more before I take another intercontinental trip.

too many places to nail one down for me, for a seven day trip.

the Lake Region of Argentina might be good, and there are a lot of amenities nearby for when you just want to party.

Thanks for the link. I too want to see the Alaskan forest and believe I will make it this year. If anything, I just want to say I have been in all 50 states as saying "49 states minus Alaska" doesn't sound as cool.

If cost was not an option I'd probably go to Ireland.

On a budget, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia.

finding a round trip flight for under $800 to Alaska is tough. I don't when or if I will go this year:mad: Plus going alone might suck.

There are any number of places that I'd like to go but — and this may sound odd to many of you — I think I'd really like to go back to Vietnam. It was a beautiful country, and I think I'd like to hike through there without people shooting at me.

if it was me i would find a hike expedition in a jungle. just because it is the opposite to what i am use to everyday. somewhere warm for sure, with a hint of danger for good measure.

I've always wanted to do the hike up to Macchu Piccu. Another thing I've always wanted to do was take the Trans-Siberian Railway and stop in Mongolia and backpack through there for a few days, jump back on the train and end in Beijing. Nepal would also be cool. Iceland? The Pyrenees? Japan? New Zealand? The Napali Coast on Kauai? Mt Kilimanjaro? These are all places that I would seriously consider if I was in your situation.

If you end up going somewhere really crazy be sure to find a Doc who has experience with these sort of travelers, he will know what local bugs to watch out for, what works best for malaria there, etc. You don't want to come back with Dengue or something.

I just read the top ten hikes in the world, was surprised that half of their list is on my list.

I might try to do that Zion narrows this spring/summer. A little sketchy with the flash flooding though.

Where are you coming out of? It's been a couple of years, but I don't think I ever paid more than $450-RT from Salt Lake City, UT. Of course, I always had plenty of ability to change my dates, and I always fly in the middle of the week, to and from:thumbup:

Next(sorry, it is THIS YEAR already :) Yupii) year I'm going to Corsica - grande randonnée 20.
It is said to be hardest hiking trail in Europe.
Plane ticket is only 120Euro(both way), accommodation shouldn't be too expensive too.

And if I didn't have to care about money at all, I would also go the same place.

For the record-- it isn't that I don't care about money, I just have a ton of miles on American so I won't have to pay for plane tickets.

Central Patagonia specifically Coyhaique in Chile.
