Which Cold Steel Hawk is your favorite?

I have two hawks, the Frontier Hawk and the Hudson Bay Hawk. Primarily, I use my hawks for camping and fire prep. For that purpose, I prefer the Hudson Bay hawk. It is heavier and splits better. If I had to pack it on a long hike, I would prefer something lighter.

Been wanting to try a Trail Hawk but they are sold out as of late.

That's okay, you only need just one! I think the Pipe Hawk is a good weight and has versatile features.
Me too, that's why I still just have one. I just can't justify buying another one. The hammer poll is great, it chops like crazy, it's tough and even looks nice (once I modified it some).

My Father bought the Trail Hawk long before I got crazy with Cold Steel. Pretty damn good axe. Functionally though, I think you’re pretty much covered with the Frontier and Hudson Bay. Unless you like the hammer end, anything the Trail Hawk can do, I suspect those Hawks can do as well.

Thank you. I noticed my frontier hawk has less material around the eye, which makes it slip off the shaft more. I wonder if the trail hawk, which has lugs, will fare better in this regard.

I like the trail and rifleman the best of the bunch. haven't tied them all though but size and looks wise.....
The rifleman was the first CS hawk I bought about 20 years ago. I think I have had 3 of them. Probably my favorite for heavy use.

I like the looks and weight of the Frontier.

The Norse is just a fun little thrower. I chopped one down for my daughter to sling when we throw axes in the backyard. It's become one of my favorites to goof around with.

Now, in full Cold Steel deadly seriousness, the melee weapon tucked next to the bed is my Viking Battle Axe. Not the gigantic long Dane Axe looking number...that one is in the man cave;) But the scaled down one is just flat out vicious.

Nice collection you have there 👍

Thanks...that's just the ones I can remember:D

I know I have a pipe hawk, a trail hawk, and a viking hand axe kicking around here somewhere as well :) I've got both spontoon models as well if we are getting down into the weeds.

CS makes a great hard use beater hawk. Not to the quality of something like an ATC or something, but they don't cost $230 either :D The do make a great user that is fun to mod. I can take or leave most of CS' knives, but their specialty items like their hawks and spears are perfect little "treat yo'self" items when I get bored. Their swords are pretty damn solid for the money too. My wife got me a hand and a half dagger for Christmas. Now I kinda NEED the sword to go with it. It would pair nicely in the man cave with the big viking axe ;)

That is awesome, I hope you get that matching sword.

Been on the fence for a while now on whether to pickup one of these axes but I'm not sure how the heat treats are.The reason that I ask is I have a Sog double edge axe that doesn't really want to chop.

The two I have have been good. CS hawks are differentially heat treated, so the edge is harder than the eye. I say give it a try.

"Favorite" ... is in my mind personal & based on application.
I would suggest buying (or getting into hand ...) any/all of the models that interest you, and making your own observations as there are many differences that many folks ignore, overlook, have no use for, etc.

Photo below is just one graphic example, but is illustrative of why one performs noticeably different than the other (geometry behind the apex).
EDIT: on left is Norse Hawk (NOT Viking Hawk). Will add 2nd image to confirm the two in this illustration.
