hey guys i think a few of you have some CZ 452's and i was wondering which model would be the over all best for me accuracy and durability wise at any price? any other accurate bolt action .22's recommended?

I have 2 Americans, a 22lr and 17hmr. Both are great shooters. The Varmints are very nice, too. Still thinking about 1 of those myself.

I have a 452 Special, also known as the 452 Training rifle. Very nice iron sights and a 24" barrel. I bought it for my boys to learn on. If I get another CZ 22, it will be the American set up with a nice scope - for me :-). I cant speak about absolute accuracy but the CZ's are fine rifles.

The Savage MKII Classic is also a very nice rifle with the Accu-trigger.

Might want to poke around rimfirecentral.com for some additional thoughts.

I don't know about absolute accuracy with those, but I doubt you will find a rifle with nicer balance, and their trigger is not bad. The sights are nice too. I would get the CZ before I bought anything else, provided you are looking for something to walk around with. The gun balances so nicely, you will probably shoot better with it than anything else.

The 452 American has two action screws compared to one action screw and one barrel lug for the rest of the 452 line. On the 453 (which has the single set trigger) line both the American and the Varmint has 2 action screws. So I would give the nod to the American. Being able to float all the barrel helps with accuracy and the two action screws compared to one should help with durability.

But you will have to be a very good shooter to be able to tell the difference in accuracy with any of the guns. So my suggestion to you would be pick the one you like the best and buy plenty of different ammo to see which brand she likes. Either way you cant go wrong.

I've got both the American and Special. As far as accuracy you can't go wrong for the money. I've found they shoot just as well as some of the more expense rifles. Both really seem to like Lapua Multi-match for ammo. It's a little expense but I'm willing to pay the extra cost over a missed shot.

+1 on the trainer, it is great for learning iron sights and mine is way more accurate than I am.

If you plan on scoping it I suggest the 16" American. If you plan on never scoping it I suggest getting the Scout model. Dollar for dollar the CZ 452 models are the best value in a bolt action rimfire rifle. The all the 452 models have adjustable trigger which is one of the reasons they are so accurate.

The Scout model can take a scope but the stock dimensions are for using iron sights. I have the Trainer with a 16" barrel and it's seriously accurate but the rear sight is grossly overkill for a rifle that will be shot at 50 yard or closer. The rear sight on the Trainer makes scoping it difficult.

Also, the 22 lr reaches it's maximum velocity out of a 16" barrel and because the barrel is short it's stiffer than a longer barrel. Stiffer barrel is more accurate.

Same here, both americans. Both are easily better shooters then I am. Scoped with a brooks trigger kit I have first time shooters hitting eggs from 50-75M no problem.

I've heard nothing but good about the CZ 452, though I don't own one myself. I did quite a bit of research awhile back when I was looking, and due to my budget I wound up getting a Savage Mark II with thumbhole stock. I couldn't be happier with it, except for the weight of the thumbhole stock. I'll eventually get a backup (regular) stock for it, I figure.
