I understand the SAS, Navy Seals, etc. use Emerson knives. Does anyone know for certain who uses which models?

believe the 8 was for the SAS

the commander model (what is considered today to be the super commander) was designed under the term 'esm-1' and was developed for field use with the navy seals (not sure which specific teams although ive heard #2)

the 6 has always been associated with the seals but i dont think it was an issued NSN knife - i believe these guys carried it out of personal preference

the DEA used the 9 (eagle) for crop eradication

dunno about the others

The Rhino was for the SEALs as well, and the SARK was for the Navy rescue guys I think.

Over the years this is what I read. Correct me if I'm wrong.:)

CQC 6 - SEALs
CQC 8 - SAS
CQC 9 - DEA
ES1-M - SEALs
SARK - USN
Karambit - Air Marshals
Specwar (with front cut-out) - NASA
Rhino - SEALs
Journeyman - ?

That's what I remember..

I heard the Seals initially used the Rhino but wanted something different and that led to the Commander which they use today - not true?

The 7 for the SEAL Teams as well.
SPECWAR SEAL Teams, the fixed blade actually, latter adapted into a folder.
Journeyman, well lets just say yeah its in the hands of some capaple folks.
The 8 actually though it kind agained fame as being used by the SAS, it was indeed another SEAL Team meant and used knife, designed with input from early member/plankowner of ST6, Chris Carraci. Also has influences from the Bill Moran ST-23 knife and the original warrior knives.

However I can tell you that many of these models and others have seen use in various hands of the military, SOF in particular. Keep in mind not single one of these models was ever offically adopted. They all were pretty much bought out of pocket by those that used/use them.

Anyway thats what I'll add to what others have said.

The rhino worked as intended, but it was too specialized a tool. Hence this led to the ES1-M which had a wider "job scope"
