Ok..I am looking to add the Juice to a kit I carry. However, they make a bunch of different styles. Which one is preferable? I want one that is pocketable and has both scissors and pliers. Any opinions, ideas, etc?

Oh...and before anyone brings it up, I am asking about which Leatherman. I know that some prefer SOG or Wenger. I don't.

Thanks Y'all

I like the S2, I think its the slimmest?

I got the CS4... Which I like, but it has the silly corkscrew which I never use. If I'm drinking wine I'm at home and have access to a proper corkscrew.

I have the S2 only, so I can't compare with other Juice models. The S2 has pliers and scissors and a few other tools. It is not very heavy and big, but the pliers are big enough to be useful. I have the S2 in my rucksack during camping and hiking, mainly because of the pliers, which is a useful tool for creating and repairing things.

Before buying the S2 I looked at other Juice models, but the S2 does have everything I want. Since I always carry a SAK with me, I didn't need very much tools, mainly the pliers. The screw drivers on the S2 are also nice to have. The S2 is an addition to the kit I already carry with me on trips and that's why I did choose this basic Juice model.

I like my S2, very nice tool that is pocket friendly and has most everything you'd need in an EDC tool around the town. Although I do somewhat wish I got the CS4, I like having a saw on me - it really does become invaluable when you need it, drastically outperforms any improvised option.

Nutnfancy review of the S2 Juice here.

See also his "multitool continuum" overview on youtube, which can be found by searching "continuum" from his main page.

cheers

My only Juice is a CS4. In general, the tool set suits me fine, although I wish there were a way to trade the corkscrew for a file. Even so, I have successfully pulled corks with it a time or two and have found it occasionally handy to loosen knots. In comparison, the S2 is a bit lighter in weight and slightly thinner, but it lacks some implements I like to have available, such as an awl (after sharpening it ) and saw. Pocket carried on a shoestring belt hanger, the felt weight of either is next to nothing, so the CS4 is a better option for me. Anything larger and I might as well transition to a Charge or Wave.

Although the Juice is not perfect, it is unique in being the only SAK-size multitool on the market with pliers large enough to be actually useful. I wish Vic offered something similar, but they don't.

My XE6 is a great little tool. Has everything you might need including a saw, a file, and two blades, a serrated, and a plain edge. Slightly thicker than the S2 or the CS4 but it is not uncomfortable in the change pocket in my jeans. Try to find a place where you can handle all of them before you make up your mind. The little sheath that is available is definitely worth the $5 or so that it costs. -DT

My wife has an XE6 and it's a beast of a tool. However, it's so thick that I don't think there's really any size or weight savings over the Wave that she carries now. If you want one tool that does it all, I'd recommend just going for a full size tool unless you're in love with the Juice form factor. Personally, I'd say go for the S2 and a complementary SAK. The S2 and the KF4 are the only Juice models on my want list, both small, minimalist tools. I have no love for the models that have a corkscrew at the expence of something else useful.

The S2 is certainly pocketable and gives you pliers, scissors and a knife. I agree with those who recommend this to you.

Got the CS4 and if i could do it all over again id go for the S2. Its slimmer and has the tools i need the most.

In an urban situation ive never used the CS4's corkscrew for anything, and the same goes for the saw. Plus it feels real heavy in the pocket.

I have a KF4 on the way. The best Juice model I've been told  It carries the essentials from the XE6 in size and weight you can handle

Why did Leatherman retire it?

I know it doesn't have scissors but my Squirt S4 covers me on that one. As Deere Man said I too have no need for corkscrew. As for bottle / can opener, I don't see these as essential day to day. Scissors would have been nice but not at the expense of Leatherman's infamous Diamond File.

Maybe they'll relaunch the KF4 with scissors included :D

This might help you decide

I have something called the Juice Pro, which is similar to the XE6, I guess. Way too thick to be pocketable, but is compact on the belt. Mine spends most of its time in my work bag.

I believe the Juice Pro was made for Costco. Has everything the XE6 has plus a foil cutter and tweezers.

Nice tool Foilist  very difficult to get now.

I was all pumped up about getting a S2 or maybe CS4, but the two S2 that I handled at the store would only close if you closed the pliers jaws first - if not, the tip would hit the tool bits and the handles wouldn't close . That was a bucket of cold water for me, so now I think I'm gonna wait to read more QC reports :(.

If you can wait until it's released (May I believe) you might want to look at a Squirt PS4. Far smaller than a Juice, it's really a back-up tool but I find the Squirt pliers very handy and I hear that the scissors are good. Depends on how much you're thinking of using it.

I pocket carry my XE6 all the time, but prefer it in my cargo pocket or in my EDC bag. It is the only one of the Juice models (as far as I know) that has the saw blade, which i use a lot on all of my MTs.

I like it, but when it comes down to it, like the Gerber Suspension, the tools are a little too short to be really useful, and I always end up switching back to a full sized MT.
