Which One for EDC - Buck 110 or 112 and Why?

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide which one of these Buck's would be good for EDC? I don't switch out knives much and I'm not a collector so it would pretty much be the one I would have on me every day.

Thanks

I would go with the 110 over the 112 just to be sure you have enough knife with you to cover all the things you may need a knife for every single day. It should handle it all.

I find my 112 fine for pocket carry but the 110 is a bit big for that and needs the belt sheath. I don't like things on my belt so my 112 gets carried more. My favorite though is still the 110 as it is sizeable enough to handle anything

I would vote for the 110 also. Be sure to check out the upgraded versions of each some sellers are introducing in this forum.

I switch between the two quite often. The 112 generally handles anything I need on a day to day basis, but the additional length of the 110 is like a security blanket. It's nice to have just in case. I work in a parts department at a car dealership and a furniture store warehouse at night, so I have to be mindful when I decide to pull out a 110. I carry two knives (at least) everyday, so there are time's when I don't use my 110 much on a given day...which kinda sucks. So basically, I end up using the 112 more when I carry it than I do a 110 just due to surroundings. So I'd take that into consideration depending on the type of work you do and the type of people you work around....

I use 110. On my belt. So nice on my belt that it disappears immediately. As a user I put a thumbs-up on it as well.
Standard 110 with S30V.

I'm a 110 guy since it fits my hand better. Brother in law is a 112 guy since he's a little smaller. I think the one which fits your hand is the way to go. The little bit more or less on your belt won't matter much.

Between the two, I always end up going with the 110. Three reasons. First, I have XL hands and I can't get a comfortable 4 finger hold on the 112 due to the finger "guard". Interestingly, I can get a comfortable grip on the 500 Duke, which is the same size as the 112 Ranger but has a 110 style front bolster with no "guard". Second, I prefer the "guard less" front bolster of the 110 (and 500) for working with wood, as I can use the edge closer to the tang easier. The guard on the 112 really gets in the way of my hand in many wood working holds. Third, I prefer the longer length of the 110, especially for food.

All this said, if you have hands that the fit 112, follow your heart. The 112 is really such a beautiful knife. I think the prettiest production folder. But, I don't carry mine.

Actually, that's some good info I didn't have, I thought both grips were the same length and the blade on the 112 was just a bit shorter.

From watching some videos, it looks like the blade tip may be a bit thicker than the 110.

Can anybody confirm?

The blade tips are just about identical, but the blade leading up to the tips is wider (spine to edge) on the 112. It's that blade-behind-the-tip that's fooling your eye.

When I'm not in my office, it's a 110 or 560. If I'm stuck in my office, it's my marksman or a 303.

My user 110 is on the bottom. The middle one is getting gifted, and the top one just got a face lift.

The 560 I drag around almost everywhere.

What the drop point 110 turned into

Forgot about these guys...

Those are Ecolite 110 and 112. They have "Paperstone" handles which is essentially paper Micarta. They made Red and Green. These are from 2012. It's a nice departure from the standard 110/112. More robust than the BuckLites, but lighter than the standard versions.

First of all they both come with a nice piece of leather which is to be used. So why would you not take as much knife as you can get if you won't be taking up that much more room on your belt ?
So I definitely choose the buck 110 ( plus the fact that I think that the buck 112 looks a little off compared to the 110 )

I edc a 110. I have large hands as well. I've tired to carry a 112 but it felt small in my hands. Personally I didn't like the feel of the 112 either. The 110 felt more natural in my hand and I preferred the weight of 110 as well.

I agree with just about everything I've read from you dude, and I agree with you about the sheath as well. The weight difference isn't really noticeable, and like I said before, I switch frequently and I've never given it a second thought.

I wish they had a 110 with a 112 front bolster. I think it's pretty dang comfortable...

Based on some of the comments, I think I'm going to try and get my hands on a 112 before I buy to see if the handle fits my hands.
