Unfortunately, the "Poll" feature only allows for 10 possible responses, so I couldn't include a separate choice for the massive No. 13. Perhaps that's appropriate, since most of the other versions of the knife are less than $30. Feel free to express your outrage at the under-represented No. 13 below.

Select your favorite. You can pick multiple!

So far my favorite is No. 6, with Numbers 4 and 12 a close second.
No. 06 gives the best blade-to-handle ratio and it does so at less than half an ounce per inch of blade.

I've only ever had/used an 8. I recently gave it to another member; but I've got a replacement (or two) waiting to be fixed (handle mod)...so I guess I'm solidly in the 8 camp.

I have a 7. It has enough handle length to allow a full 4 finger grip. I can also see why no. 8 is considered an all-around knife. It'd be awesome in the kitchen.

The MAM Operario friction folder (3rd one down) has a no. 8 sized blade in a no. 7 sized handle. Best of both worlds.

I voted No. 8. I’ve handled the 6 and 7 and out of those, the 8 is my favourite. I'm still not a fan of the Opinel. In my personal opinion, if you are going to spend $20, spend $5 more and get a SAK or a strop. But that's just me 🙂

Have an #8 INOX………….not exactly sure why, and a #3 in the first aid kit

On the rare occasion that I go to a steak house.. I like to take/use my No.8.. Hate those steak knives that most restaurants use.. I was using it one time and the manager stopped at our table.. He noticed my No.8 and commentated.. I showed it to him and he liked it..
JMO!!!

The short answer is No.6. That’s the one that is in my pocket every day.
My first Opinel was a 7, about 45 years ago. I still have it. Then I got an 8, and decided I liked it better. Now I have several, but never a 2, 5, 9, 12 or 13. All in good time.
I used to carry them on my motorbikes, so I didn’t mind the flared pommel. I didn’t start carrying one in my pocket until I learned how easy it is to slim one down. I have an 8 and a 10 sanded down for carry, and a fresh 7, if I ever get around to it.
