so sheath that came with 16 is warming up to me. it's not that bad. i actually like it. still thinking about leather sheath...

which side do you carry your knife? i'm finding it more comfortable to carry the knife on my left side, i'm right handed. this gives me more control when i'm putting the knife away. hold the sheath with left hand and guide the blade into it. tried carrying it on the right side, but it's taking too long to find the sheath and put away the knife.

if you have one of those scout sheath, how do you put away the knife?

I have the 16 also and the stock sheath is pretty nice I think, I'm right handed and keep it on my right side, I usually don't have any issues finding the sheath. The only knife I keep on my left side for cross draw is my cold steel Laredo Bowie

I usually carry on my right side. Folder is my right pocket right now. If I am carry two knives the larger one is on my right side and the smaller one on my left - to cross draw it. I really haven't done a scout carry yet. I just finished up a kydex sheath for my BK16 and have it set up for a scout carry. I am not sure if I will like it or not.

always strong side for me (right). If I carried a sidearm I would reconsider, but no 'problem' there.

Left side. My defensive weapon rides on the right.

I scout carry. It isn't hard to re-sheath the knife. My sheath has a wide "mouth" that remains open, and has wide spaced belt loops so the sheath stays put. No need for two hands to re-sheath.

Sorry the knife isn't a Becker...

What do you do with scout sheath when you are carrying backpack? Doesn't it get in the way?

You can scout carry the stock sheath with the BK16. Plenty of straps in the back. I've done it before. Works pretty well.

I mostly wear knives on my right side. I'm right handed. This goes for all knives between, say, 4 and 7 inches. I unsheath and re-sheath most knives one-handed. I only carry a knife that size openly when I'm outdoors, hiking, camping, or working in the yard, because I live in the middle of a large city and I don't want to attract any attention.

If the blade is smaller than that and I intend to conceal it, it goes IWB, either at 5 o'clock slightly tilted to the right, or at 11 o'clock so I can pull it out with both hands quickly. The latter option digs into my stomach a lot and tends to shift when sitting down or bending, so I like back carry better. It does have the disadvantage that it might be difficult to get to the blade with my left hand. I haven't really tried neck carry, mostly for lack of a sheath that holds the knife firmly while having a low profile.

If concealment isn't really a concern, I like to carry small knives in my pockets. The 14 and 11 are perfect for that, because even with a cord wrap they are very low profile and the sheath doesn't shift around in my pocket because it's so large and paddle-like. Pocket carry is mostly FR or BR pocket.

I'm a southpaw. I carry upside down on my opposed (right) pack strap -- something that was really popular during "my" war. Quick across-the-chest access, even when carrying a sidearm (got-dang 1911 like God* intended) on the strong side.

It depends on the knife & the sheath. A longer blade usually ends up on my weak side for cross draw unless I have a dangler sheath. So far I've only carried my 16 on my strong side but would definitely switch it if I were carrying a pistol that day.
As far as scout interfering with a backpack, I think that is a very individual thing. You'd just have to try it. I have a few packs & some are ok with it others not.

If I am using a pack with a belt, which isn't often, a carabiner through one sheath loop makes it a dangler. I usually can fit my needed gear in a maxped versipack.

I carry it on my right unless Im carrying a pistol as well, then Ill carry it on my left. Also if Im carrying a rifle and have ak nife with knurled handle Ill wear the knife on my left. Absolutely fucked up my AR15 with a CRK Shadow IV.

I ahve a custom kydex for my BK9 that is set up for scout carry but I usually carry it on my left fron side at a horrizontal for a right hand cross draw. I enjoy it.
